  1. Hello, I found this on my parents land in a pile of dirt they dug up. They live in Milesburg, PA. The object from this picture is about a foot long and about 4-5 inches in width. It has some kind of texture on the top of it, which you can see from the photos. It also has what looks like skin texture on the sides of it? The markings/holes on both sides seem to be in the same spots. The bottom of it fell off, so I included a pic of where it broke off from and what it looks like inside. It is also very heavy.
  2. This is what is said to be an authentic mosasaur skull being sold from the location of MOROCCO. They said it was glued from the fossils found at the site. I am really interested in buying it but know they love to fake some fossils there. It doesn’t look like the terrible alligator looking ones I see on online auction site and around other sites. Matches what they normally look like but am not sure if anyone can tell from the pictures provided.
  3. This thing weighs 25 pounds i appreciate any and all help I know it’s a skull I see the teeth and eye and even the nostrils and jaw line but it’s too big to be human. or maybe gigantpithicus ? I can take more pictures if you need and I also have a microscope camera not sure if close ups would help?

    What’s this?

Pulled this from roughly 3-4 feet deep in my backyard on the far west/nw edge of San Antonio. Found a rock bed as I was digging. Odd because until then the soil was actually soil…it was dark and was easy to shovel. I’ve dug holes all around my property and at many other spots around this area and I’ve always hit a very solid layer of limestone before even getting a foot deep. So 3 feet was noteworthy. And that was about 8 months ago. It took me that amount of time to uncover this one. It’s a hair shy of 2lbs4oz/ just over 1kg. Any thoughts on it?
  5. I am assuming this is a ceratopsian skull bone, but I am stumped! Can someone help me with the ID? Ceratopsian anatomy isn't my specialty. Excavated from mudstone in the Hell Creek Fm. Slope Co. North Dakota Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  6. I found this fossil in a riverbed in upstate New York. At first I thought it may be a turtle stone or some other form of concretion however when i picked it up it had features that made me think it may be a skull of some kind. It looks as if it has a neck, jaw bones and a mouth. It is really remarkable to look at. It seems to be made of chert and is roughly the size of a cantaloupe and was found along side Crinoid fossils . If anyone has any incite on what this may be it would be greatly appreciated.

    Bone identification please

Hello! I'm a complete newbie here so any help would be gratefully received. I've recently been given a small collection of bones that belonged to a neighbour of my parents here in the UK. He was a fossil collector who recently passed away. The largest bone has been identified as a woolly rhino femur but I'm struggling with the others, especially this strange looking thing! Apologies for the background.

An Odd One Found In Florida

Good morning everyone! I was hoping someone would be able to help me identify this weird looking fossil. I researched it for days and think it may be a really worn down sea robin skull! It is the size of a US quarter (24.257 mm in diameter) I found it while sifting for sharks teeth in Fernandina Beach, Florida (Nassau county). Anything helps! Thanks in advance!
  9. Hi there! New member here. My meemaw just shared this item with me that was found near a creek bed behind her house (just north of San Antonio, Texas). Looks like it has some identifiable facial features, but it is awfully heavy. Thanks in advance for your help in soothing her curiosity! K
  10. I was wondering if anyone can verify the descriptions match the fossils. Second one is a lance creek formation fossil, they believe it to be a partial triceratops skull, it looks like a partial skull but not those of a triceratop?
  11. I am curious as to whether or not this is a fossilized animal skull. I found it in a section of woods in San Antonio TX that was a Paleo Indian camp thousands of years ago. I have found several Paleo Indian Points and tools also. Does anyone have any input concerning this piece?

    Is this a fossil?

My husband thinks it looks like a bone or a skull of some kind. Any suggestions?

    SE Pennsylvania streambed find

Hi everyone, I live in southeastern Pennsylvania in a small town just north of the Delaware/Pennsylvania border. I live on the edge of a large neighborhood next to a very old plot of woods with very large old growth trees. Next to my house is a stream that exits out of the neighborhood through a drainage pipe and into the woods. The streambed cuts down through into the ground about 6 feet below grade and when it rains heavy, the stream becomes a torrent of runoff that dredges up rocks making it an interesting place to walk after a storm. I've found many interesting rocks and even some petrified wood, most of which I believe is of the sandstone variety, but interesting none the less. About a year ago I found an interesting rock that I couldn't identify as anything specific but it was odd enough to place it up on the embankment on a wall of rock along with lots of other interesting finds I've made. It sat there for about 6 months, during which time the rain cleaned off the dirt and loose debris until one day I though this is really interesting and I brought it inside. I found this piece just down stream from a spot where a large pipe dumps storm water into the stream and cuts a large hole or pothole in the streambed and dredges up rocks from deeper below, maybe 3 to 4 feet deeper than the 6 feet below the floor of the woods. I'm not sure what to make of this but to my untrained eye, it looks very similar to bone structure that I've seen and also looks similar to other skull fragments discussed on this forum. I'd like to get some opinions as to what this might be. The location is about 2 miles north of Marcus Hook PA in Delaware County in a section of woods that as far as I can tell, has never been developed at lease not as far back as the 1800's when the entire area was farmland. During that time and now, these woods follow a stream that has been here for a long time undisturbed but surrounded by development. So here are some photos. If you needs any more photos or measurements please let me know. Thanks. Berwicker
  14. I found this in Alabama. I think it's a skull of some sort but every other time I've posted trying to get a fossil i.d. turns out all my " fossils " were just rocks lol. I love rocks and that will always be true but I'm getting a little discouraged with fossils . Please give me some good news that at least this is a real bone. Lol . It is 3 inches tall . 5 inches long and almost 3 inches wide.
  15. Hey guys, I saw this listed as a fossil rock but I feel like it could be a skull, it has the shape of a skull and crystals where it’s eyes would have been. What do you guys think? It’s found in kerrville, Texas.
  16. Hi all! First of all I can’t believe I’m posting an is it an egg question LOL! But I was going through some Texas Permian matrix I just received and danged if this doesn’t seem like a piece of egg shell... but there’s no way I’d be lucky enough to find a piece of Permian egg so I’m betting it’s bone but still.... sorry for another egg topic but I gotta know! Thanks guys and gals!

    Snake or Turtle head?

I can't figure out. how to use your site! I have a fossilized head that I think is snake or turtle. It measures ap. 1 1/2" long, 1" wide & 1/2" high. If you or anyone could help me figure out what it is, I would really appreciate it. I got the head about 1995 at an auction In Southern California. Thank you.

    Compressed Dinosaur Skull?

Fossil was found in a river bed in northeast Texas known for Cretaceous fossils... Fanin county if my memory serves me.. between 2000-2005. I didn’t know what it was for the longest time. After staring at this thing for a very long time it dawned on me... could it be a compressed skull. It measures 2 inches from front to back and 1.5inches at its widest point by .5 of an inch thick.I thought I would post it up and try to get some feedback!! Thank you in advance for any information!! Happy Hunting!!

    Rapp beach find

Found a bone piece, maybe 2 1/2" at its longest, solid and heavy for its size. The 'bottom' is partly "stippled" (not part of the atlas vertebra, as I learned here recently). Different textures on different sides, the small protuberance is remarkable for the number of holes and channels (for blood vessels? nerve bundles?), at least one passing straight through. @Boesse you seem to be the acknowledged expert here. Do I have enough and are the photos (sorry!) clear enough to guess at an ID?
