Hi!, Recently I've bought a Spinosaurus tooth, but my family keeps saying that it is fake. The tooth came in the display, so I couldn't get it open, but I can still see it with great details. Can someone confirm that it is a real tooth and not another fake? The website that I bought it from said the following: Spinosaurus tooth 1.3 inches, form Morocco no restoration. I found this old tooth in a box in my house, the tip had snapped off. It said it was 'spinosaur tooth' Is it real, why does it have a strange pattern and if it is real, is it from some kind of spinosaur?

I bought this tooth last year from a trusted local fossil shop, it was sold to me as an authentic spinosaurus tooth. Is this truly a spinosaurus tooth or is it from a croc (or something else)? Hoping I didnt get scammed.. Also, for future reference, how would I tell the difference between a spino tooth and a croc tooth?

Hello! I saw a jaw fragment for sale from the kem kem beds, it's identified as crocodile. I've seen picsc of crocodile jaws before and that they have like a pitted texture, I don't see that very clearly on this one, but since this is out of my expertise I want to ask you guys who has more knowledge. Could it be something else like a spinosaurid?

This weekend i made a very lucky find, in the process of cleaning up. Photo's to follow soon. I was very emotional when i picked it up and almost at once saw it was Spinosaur. It mind sound odd ( maybe other fossil hunters may relate to this), that a minute before finding it, i had a strong feeling come across me, of something special nearby. I have identified it as the anterior part of the dentary of a Spinosaur, just before the rostrum begins. There is an eroded partial tooth showing at one end. Maybe more inside the mandibular section. A scan would confirm this. Its 9 cm long, 5.3 cm high and 2.5 cm wide (the corresponding section being a little larger than Baryonyx, which is much younger than this, 125 versus 135 MYA) As far as i know, this would be only the second Spinosaur dentary on the UK mainland, other than the Holotype Baryonyx Walkeri. The isle of Wight (115-125MYA) has had the recent discovery of two Baryonyx , which does have a partial dentary.- 166 replies

My new Spinosaurus Aegypticus tooth just came in. And it's a big one! Over 4'5 inches / 11.5 Centimeters long. Was wondering if you can see any doings with it? So far i can't.

When it come to small teeth i always have a problem differentiate spinosaur tooth from croc tooth . Hi all, here is a spinosaur rooted tooth with a strange cavity sort of thing at the bottom of the partial root. Does anyone know if it's a hike for a new tooth? Or is it just some kind of damage It's from the kemkem, 7.5 cm long

Authentic Kem Kem Fossils? Composites?

Hello! I'm a new member and I was hoping I could get some second opinions on some Kem Kem fossils I'm thinking about purchasing. I've only collected American species, and have been recently interested in bones out of the Kem Kem beds. I've stayed away thus far because of the stories of composite fossils and Frankenstein pieces, but I've come across a couple that I thought were interesting and fairly priced. Was hoping I could get some other thoughts before moving on any of them (wanna make sure they aren't composites or areas of fill look weird). I've attached pictures of three specimens I'm looking at. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 1) Spinosaurus Vertebra 2) Spinosaurus Rib I think this one is what it is, prep work doesn't look the best, but just wanted confirmation I guess. 3) Carcharadontosaurus vertebra (transverse processes) I was wondering if I could get help on confirming the id on this one, not really sure what carcharadontosaur vertebrae are supposed to be like. Centrum is missing, not sure if that's important for the id.

This is a spinosaur tooth from Kem Kem Formation, Morocco. I obtained this from online. It is a large tooth, with length of 3.5" , and seems like broken into several pieces and repaired. I don't see any restoration in near-root area. Very white, clean. broken tip, which is very common for spinosaur tooth. Sadly, it broke into two pieces. The tooth is more fragile than I thought... The broken side shows shiny ivory color. Is it okay to use LocTite super glue?

Good evening everyone, Does anyone have an explanation why there are so many theropod teeth from Kem Kem available (Carcharodontosaur, Spinosaur) while there aren't way as many herbivore teeth being offered from that area? Shouldn't herbivores have outnumbered the theropods by a lot?

Hello, I won this last night. Sold as Spino, but I have my doubts cos of how thin it is and the fact it went for a really low price makes me think it is also croc. If someone can take a look, that would be great. If spino, then I gotba bargain. If croc, well, it is still a lower than normal price and will be nice on my crocodile vertebra row. Sorry for screenshot pics, im on phone so cant save directly. It is from Kem Kem basin. 2.16 inch. 216 g in weight. Many thanks

Spinosaur Tooth - Comoposite?

This is a large Spinosaur tooth. It has obvious repairs, and some restoration horizontally along the middle of the tooth. However, I'm wondering if it looks composite. The claim is that it isn't composite, but I'm suspicious. -
I decided to expand my obsession with sharks towards an obsession with theropods. I received my first piece today, a Spinosaur from Morocco, even making a display resembling the rolling deserts of the Sahara for it. This thread will be updated when any further theropod teeth arrive

I have here a Spinosaur tooth. It's nearly 4". I don't doubt it's "real," but it looks restored to me and I would appreciate help figuring out just how restored it is.

Can anyone tell me if this is a spinosaurus quadrate bone? It is apparently from Kem Kem. I think it looks pretty quadratey, just going by a number that I’ve seen in pictures. I JUST purchased/won it, but havent paid yet, so I was hoping I could get opinions ASAP, so I can either pay right away, or discuss cancelling the purchase if it’s not what it’s supposed to be. Normally I would have asked for help on here BEFORE purchasing, but it was a last moment situation, so i barely even had time to think, let alone post on here about it. Any help is greatly appreciated, as always!!! oh yeah, also, what’s that odd thing attached to the side of the upper part, thats even a different color? I’m guessing it’s part of the fossil, just....I don’t even know! I have no idea what would make it so weird and different from the rest.

Sold as jaw section. From Kem Kem. 140mm long. Lower jaw. Dpesnt say if teeth are from the jaw or added. Anyone know if ID is correct? Will be nice alongside my spino verts. Thanks

A new study came out about Irritator where they scanned the skull to get a brain endocast. The paper itself is open access and so are the 3d files! I guess I know what I'll be 3d printing soon... Any thoughts on this? Another vert I'd like to add to my buy list. From Kem Kem. 17cm long. Dorsal vert. Is the spinosaur label good, or could it be carcharodontosaur? Or, croc? Also, tge brown line down the middle isn't something suspicious ? Like a sign of restoration?
