Hello everyone! Im new here, and this is my first post. Apologies if I miswrite or post in this channel. I have just started my Fossil collection, im completely fascinated by them. Below I've posted some photos of the ones I got so far. Any opinions are welcome! 2x Carcharodon tooth, one small one big 2 x Spinosaurus 2 x Megalodon tooth the darker brown one was my first tooth. It measures 13.5 cm. The lighter one is my newest its sized at 15.5 cm. These will be getting better stands, to display them they are being made. Im in the lookout for other great pieces, as I would like to have 1-4 pieces for the same Fossil. It was actually a person on this forum who inspired me to build a collection due to the fantastic display of them. My dream would be to acquire a Tyrranosaur-Rex tooth, A claw from the raptor, or Spinosaurus, or any kind and perhaps a Mosasaurus skull. And a smaller great color looking Megalodon tooth, and perhaps others. Best, Phos_01

Hi, How does this Spino look? It's 3.1 inches, so a good inch bigger than the others I have. The seller says no repairs or restoration, but that tip looks like it might be repaired---although could be a crack. But are there any signs of restoration, or filling or compositing two bits of teeth together? Thanks

Hello there. I'm new to fossil collecting and just wanted some help with identifying if this is a real spinosaurus tooth or not. The seller advertised it as real and claims it comes from Morocco. I was recommended this seller, and they've got good reviews, but I think I'm just a bit paranoid after reading a lot of stories about fake fossils. Unfortunately I can't remove it from it's case so I can't show off all the angles. Any help is much appreciated. I'm also new to this site, so if I'm doing this wrong, I apologise!

Any restoration work on this Spinosaur foot claw?

Hi, A while back I asked about the identification of this theropod foot claw, but it is still for sale and I am thinking of buying it. I wanted to ask now, if anyone can see any sort of repair work done on this claw (such as with the tip of the claw?), the seller says there is no restoration and I can't see any repair work on it, but I am never too confident with dinosaur claws. Hello everyone,I've decided to open a chain of comments focusing on a popular theme: Moroccan spinosaurids. This is the first comment of a small series dedicated to analyse and document the diverse morphology of spinosaurids in the Kem Kem group. As an introduction,I'll be specifying how it will work,the rules and some guidance for those interested. First and foremost,the rules: 1)For correct identifications,I require images in various view(ventral and lateral at least) and with the highest quality possible. 2)Each comment will focuse on a specific morphotype,as such,only post images of specimens matching the description giving at the start. Any specimen from other morphotype won't be identified by me. 3)Other people are encouraged to post their specimens and help with the identification/s. Procedures: 1) A new comment will be posted each week, probably during the weekend,hour from Spain. 2) Around 4 specific comments are planed. 3) Each comment will discuss a specific morphotype (anterior cervicals,mid cervicals, posterior cervicals and cervicodorsal vertebrae). 4)At the start of each comment,I'll write a basic description of the respective morphology. 5) I'll describe in detail each vertebra contained in the four groups previously mentioned. 6) Images will be extracted/modified from the literature and complemented with additional specimens. 7) Concluding remarks: Taxonomic identification and limitations of the analysis. 8) References and acknowledgements will be posted after the main corpus of the comment is finished. Fossil Fake ID: Mosasaur-Spino Composite?

I need help. WHAT IS THIS? It is being sold as a Moroccan mosasaur tooth and jaw section. I suspect the jaw part probably comes from the phosphates and is genuine mosasaur, but is the tooth, spinosaurid? If this is a fake, it is a much higher quality fake than normal. I just recieved a box with a random assortment of Kem Kem fossils and I was wondering if some of you might help out with some of the ID's 1) A fish scute, Adrianaichthys (Lepidotes) pankowskii would be my guess. 2) Another Adrianaichthys (Lepidotes) pankowskii scale? 3) A small bone, turtle perhaps? 4) Crocodile osteoderm 5) Crocodile osteoderm 6) I often see similar fossil sold as Kem Kem coprolites 7) base of an Onchopristis numides rostrum tooth 8) A large fish vert, could it be Chondrichthyan like Onchopristis or probably just bony fish? 9) A fish vert? 10) Spinosaurid tooth

Hello, Can anyone take a look at this rib piece, please and give your thoughts? It is sold as a spinosaurus rib. It is from Kem Kem and measures 21 inchs x 3 inches x 1.9 inches (at it's widest points). Interestingly, it also has supposedly three predation marks which seller suspects was made by a Carcharodontosaurus. So, if someone can look and confirm that it's a spinosaurus and if they are predation marks as opposed to natural wear or damage with tools during extraction, that would be excellent. Seller also says that there are hairline stress fractures and resin stabilisation on one end which was very fragile is the only restoration. They will be in a 2nd post shortly. Edit: Uploaded

Spino tooth natural or restored/ repaired

Hi TFF, Would like for your advice on this spino tooth I saw online. Ive been looking at some of your old threads on how spino teeth have famously been repaired or restored. Ive been, in a way, sort of been able to detect whether they have been fixed up. this one however is labelled 100% natural and messaged the seller, he also confirmed nothing has been done on the tooth and its condition is how it was found straight from the ground. Size is 4 inches so quite nice and wanted to double check as most of his listings of this size have been also labelled repaired or restored. price imo was also pretty good for its size and condition, though seller does seem reputable and many positive reviews, zero negatives. But I guess it doesnt hurt to ask for more opinions from you guys. Thanks in advance!

Have some folks selling this as a Spinosaurus tail section at about 20” in length. As usual, it came from the Kem Kem area. I’m not seeing Spinosaurus myself. But I would love to hear from others on what they think. Thank you ahead of time! compressor.zip

Dr. Hone and Holtz take an objective look at Spinosaurus has an aquatic predator. Gotta love it, another view, excellent read. From Abstract: "Here we assess the arguments about the functional morphology of this animal and the available data on its ecology and possible habits in the light of these new finds. We conclude that based on the available data, the degree of adaptations for aquatic life are questionable, other interpretations for the tail fin and other features are supported (e.g., socio-sexual signalling), and the pursuit predation hypothesis for Spinosaurus as a “highly specialized aquatic predator” is not supported. In contrast, a ‘wading’ model for an animal that predominantly fished from shorelines or within shallow waters is not contradicted by any line of evidence and is well supported. Is the spinosaurus tooth for my niece real?

Hello from Germany! I just bought a spinosaurus tooth for my niece (she is a biiig dinosaur fan) online and just wanted to ask you about your opinion. The seller told me before buying that this tooth is glued and repaired. I knew it before and that is no problem to me. I just wanted to make sure that the tooth is real. It is not my target to get one that is NOT repaired. What are your thoughts about this tooth? Is it real? Is it in a good condition? Do you have some information for me? Would be really grateful to get some of your opinions. I have 30 days to send the tooth back in case all of you say that it is a fake. Thanks a million in advance! Best regards André

Hello, I'm new to this forum. In the last months I have been involved in a project regarding North Africa spinosaurids.Because of the reduced data I have, I want to know if anyone could share photos of their specimens.Most of the specimens I need are presacral vertebrae and posterior cranial bones(including,if possible,a braincase). Also, any information in favour of a second morphotype could be really helpful;even though I have already treated this point, I want different opinions on this topic. I just got a spinosaurus tooth by my girlfriends dad for christmas and i have a few Questions: 1. Is it real or how much of it is fixed up with some kind of matrix? 2. What is that bright white part glimpsing between the sand? 3. Should i try to free the tooth from the dark/sandy part, to reveal his real beauty? 4. If yes, how? Thank you for your time! -
I’ve had this a few years labeled as spinosaurus. However it looks different that 99% of spinosaurus I’ve seen so just wanted to check it’s about an inch long. Merry Christmas everyone

Good everyone. So I was fortunate enough to be able to buy some specimens from an old collection. Unfortunately the husband had passed away and the misses was left his collection from 30+ years. This claw had been tagged as a Spinosaurus claw which I’m pretty confident it is not. So I’m hoping you guys may have some input. I cannot tell you anything about location because no one other than him would know. So I understand that the ID will not be 100% and that’s fine. It definitely has had some repair work done to it. I was given this “spinosaurus tooth” a long time ago but when I looked at it again I thought it looked more like a croc tooth. It’s from Morocco and is about 4 cm. Is there anyway to assign a genus to it? I heard it’s hard to identify Moroccan teeth that far

KEM KEM the mystery - My First Dinosaur fossil .... Abelisauridae tooth ! MY BEST theropod tooth in my collection ! My Mystery vertebra from Kem kem ... possible Theropod vertebra Sauropod tooth << Rebbachisaurus tooth from kem kem Another Abelisauridae tooth < I personally love the color of enamel > Little Carcharodontosauridae tooth from kem kem < quite nice enamel and I love that feeding damage on the tip !!>
