Is this a real Spinosaurus claw?
cambake posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
This is my first time in this forum, I’m really enjoy all your post. I have seen this spino claw and I don’t know if is real, can you help me with this? Really thank you -
Hi, I hope the pictures are adequate for a possible identification. This is being sold as a theropod limb bone from the Kem Kem. The seller states that it arrived broken and it was hollow like a theropod bone (but filled with sand and has had a few glued repairs). It is 23.5cm in length and I am wondering if it does look like a limb bone and if it might be a Spinosaurid bone since it reminds me a bit of a Spinosaur phalanx (although the seller lists it as an unidentified dinosaur). Thank you!

Spinosaurus tooth good or bad?
Johnf692 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
First time poster to this forum, though have enjoyed reading through all the many topics. I received this 3” spino tooth as a gift and the more I read all of the other similar questions regarding real or fake, how good is it, etc., I got curious about mine. Paperwork says it’s from the Kem Kem beds, and my uneducated eye thought it seems to be in good shape, without too much restoration, but I’m curious to see what all the experts have to say. Your thoughts would be much appreciated!- 4 replies

Hi everyone, I bought this fossil, it was labelled as a possible cervical vertebra section and comes from Morocco. Has anyone got any idea what animal it may have come from? Is it part of a vertebra? Hope you can shed some light on it. Thanks.

hi i try to reconstruct a spinosaurus skeleton, i miss some bones of course, lot of bones ares in privates collection, and it s difficult to access them. my idea is : if you have in your collection some cervicals vertebrae or dorsals , the size is not a problem, i look for 3D models of them. i look also for the 3D models bones of the front limbs. thanks for help in this project.

Hello to everyone! I recently bought a Spinosaurus marrocanus tooth, from Taouz (Morocco). I bought it from a Spanish fossil dealer. I wanted to know if you could give me your opinion about its possible authenticity from the photos attached. Thank you very much!

Spinosaur Tooth - Comoposite?
BellamyBlake posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
This is a large Spinosaur tooth. It has obvious repairs, and some restoration horizontally along the middle of the tooth. However, I'm wondering if it looks composite. The claim is that it isn't composite, but I'm suspicious. -
From morocco They look like spinosaurus to me but let me know. Any info is greatly appreciated as always.

Indeed, more Spinosaurus teeth from me. I appreciate the help that many of you have offered. It's much easier to spot potential issues with more experienced eyes and angles I hadn't considered. I have two Spinosaurus teeth here, both over 4". They look kosher to me barring some minor matrix fill on cracks. Confirmation would be lovely! Thank you, Bellamy First: Second:

I have here a 5" Spinosaurus tooth. The claim is that it has some repair to it using glue, but that it's all one tooth as opposed to a composite. If that were the case, I would be fine with it. However, I have my suspicions that it's a composite. I'd appreciate some more eyes on this!

I’m gambling that this is a spinosaur bone, as it is supposed to be, but I really don’t know. Can anyone ID what this bone is, and if it’s spinosaurus or not? It’s apparently from Kem Kem. Thanks so much for any, and all help:)

Hi everyone! With my 6 years old son we have bought this precious tooth in a prestigious shop at Barcelona. They have tell us that is a Mosasaurus tooth, but I think not. It looks more a Spinosaurus tooth, maybe (sorry if I'm talking absurdity, I'm totally newbie...). The teller at shop was not the usual one, and it was not possible to ask him more information. Please, may you help me to identify the correct "former owner" for this tooth? My son and I will be very grateful for that. I'm posting some photos for the piece. The first one is from the other pieces at shop, that we didn’t bought. The size for rule is in centimeters. Thanks a lot for your kindness!

Can anyone tell me if this is a spinosaurus quadrate bone? It is apparently from Kem Kem. I think it looks pretty quadratey, just going by a number that I’ve seen in pictures. I JUST purchased/won it, but havent paid yet, so I was hoping I could get opinions ASAP, so I can either pay right away, or discuss cancelling the purchase if it’s not what it’s supposed to be. Normally I would have asked for help on here BEFORE purchasing, but it was a last moment situation, so i barely even had time to think, let alone post on here about it. Any help is greatly appreciated, as always!!! oh yeah, also, what’s that odd thing attached to the side of the upper part, thats even a different color? I’m guessing it’s part of the fossil, just....I don’t even know! I have no idea what would make it so weird and different from the rest.

Spinosaurus Tooth
GarnettsGallery posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello! First time poster here. I was wondering if anyone could help tell me if this tooth is a composite or not. I have read up on a few other that look similar, but I am still hopeful. Realistically, it probably is composite. I have a UV light and can give more details about it if they are needed. Thanks!- 6 replies

I've got five jaw fragments from the Kem Kem of which I think they are from crocodilians. Any ideas as to what genus or species these belong would be appriciated. 1. No idea what this jaw is from, but my best guess is some crocodilian. 2. I also don't know what this is but also probably some crocodilian. 3. This one has a hard layer of sediment covering it and it's missing the underside of the jaw. It looks a bit like the dented part of a Spinosaurus dentary but it's more likely also crocodilian. 4. Definitely crocodilian, has a typical croc texture (lots of dents). To me it looks like a right jugal with a part of the maxilla. 5. Also some crocodilian, resembles an Elosuchus jaw but it's pretty small so maybe a juvenile or some other croc. Have fun ID'ing!
