I am learning how to spot steinkerns, and I believe that all of these are examples. The first set of three would be gastropods, I think, and the set of two smaller ones are possibly phosphatic steinkerns of coral. I am not certain. [These come from an estate collection I acquired last year, all unidentified but labeled as coming from Edisto Beach, SC on dates ranging from the late 1970s through the early 1990s.]

Hey everyone! About 2 weeks ago, the VERY generous @AshHendrick gave a portion of his Aurora pile, straight from the mine! I put it around a wood frame in my yard, and have hunted it for hours almost every day. This will be an ongoing thread, I will prob not update every day, but at least weekly. This is the pile. It's bigger than it looks in this pic (about 5.5 x 5.5 feet [a little less than 2 meters i think]) What I do is I sift into the bucket, so I don't go through it twice. I dump it somewhere else. Good morning, all. Here's a few I've been working on today. Found in sw florida, I think I'm in part of the Tamiami formation. Anyway, I think the little snail is possibly Nassarivus Quadredentatus, but not sure. The large grey I think might be Nodipecten, also not positive. The ones that look like little elephant feet I'm pretty sure are a type of coral, but I can't find a match so I could be wrong. The little "toothed" thing I'm thinking is a steinkern, but would like to know for sure, and from what type of critter. Is the button a sponge? And then there's the wormy looking thing, or shell rim? There are 6 objects shown, shots with multiple angles are grouped together. Any help would totally be appreciated!

I've had this for years, tucked away & had forgotten about it. Partial sand dollar with beautiful markings. Looking at it now, I see something on the underside that has me curious. At first they (2 of them) looked like small agates, which seemed odd. A closer look shows what appears to be something inside. There are the usual partial shells & probable steinkerns, but these 2 things are different. I've focused mainly on the larger of the two since it's easier to photograph for me, using a few different angles. I'll let you be the judge on them. Am I just seeing thing's or is there really something in there? Found on the NW Oregon coast.
