Hey all! Sorry if the information provided isn’t sufficient, but I’m new here. I’m a wildlife biologist and I do a lot of surveying for snakes in rocky areas. A good friend of mine directed me here to help with a fossil ID, as I come across a lot of interesting fossils in the rocks I turn over and the road cuts I search. Attached is a photo of a fossil imprint in a dolomite outcrop. This would be western St Louis County. If more information is required, please don’t hesitate to ask. thanks!
taylorcustom posted a topic in Paleo Re-creationsI recently created this set of micropaleontology themed drink coasters. When stacked, the coaster set resembles a geological core sample, containing fossils ranging from the present day to 1500 Ma. For anyone with access to a 3d printer, the cad files can be freely downloaded here: https://sketchfab.com/taylorcustom/collections If anyone has requests for other such projects, I welcome suggestions!
here is one site that has several fossil models in .stl format to download and print, or convert and use for other interesting projects...YEGGI Accutrans 3D is a fantastic Model/Object Converter that opens and converts a host of model formats... It is what I used to open these few and preview them various ways Accutrans 3D I will add more 3D model sites as I come across them
