I was just wondering what some of y'all might think of this rock? I found it in a creekbed at a location where I have found several artifacts and fossils but wasn't sure what to think about this rock and it is intriguing to me.

We found this while cutting trails in our forest, on the banks of our spring fed natural pond. We live in southeast Oklahoma, in the Ouachita National Forest, in the Kiamichi River Valley. All of which used to be underwater eons ago. Every single person who has seen it in person, has said it looks like a petrified turtle. It’s heavy like stone & the top is darker with a slight greenish tint & is very smooth & not rough like the bottom or like a rock. The outdoor lighter is 12 inches long. Thank you so much in advance, for your help & insights into what it could possibly be!

Found this rock whilst walking along a beach in Jersey in the Channel Islands, I’m no expert but my instincts are telling me it was a plant rather than a creature of any kind. Hope someone can enlighten me.

Hello! This (potential?) fossil was found down at lake Huron by Goderich Ontario, Canada. It was given to me by someone else because the pattern is reminiscent of a spider web. I'm more of an arachnid collector than a fossil collector, so I have no idea where to begin with this one! I hoped someone would have an idea of what it is, if it's a fossil at all! It's about 1 inch and 1/3rd in diameter, and roughly one half 2/3rds of an inch 'tall' when laid flat. It may be difficult to tell from the images, but the 'front' dips inwards towards the center. I hope that helps in addition to the images.

I found this polished stone at the beach recently. It looks like a sandwich made of wood. At first I thought petrified wood but the central part has tiny pores like a bone. Ideas?

Hi everyone! I found this yesterday on a pebbley/rocky shore near Solva in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, UK. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? The stone is roughly 15cm x 15cm and was found on the mid shore. Thanks in advance! Hannah

This item was uncovered while excavating my basement in 2007. After watching a series of videos from the Illinois Geological Survey last year, I believe it is petrified wood of some early tree's growing in Northern Illinois between glacial periods. it weighs 17.2 pounds and its about 10 inches tall. It has a large flat area and another smaller flat area on its opposite. I don't see rings as you might see in tree stumps which is concerning. Rather it has vertical lines on most of it sides with interesting crevasses like an old tree limb might have. It is appears broken at the top with an almost rotted core look to it. Can you help me identify and age this item?

Hi, everyone! I am new here and know almost nothing about fossils. I found this rock on the coast of the Baltic Sea in Latvia and was wondering if someone could tell me anything about it. I have previously found stones with marks or even fossilized snails, but this one seems really interesting (if it is a fossil at all).

Hi everyone, I found an interesting piece of stone today at a road construction site. May I ask if someone can tell me more about the possible species and age of this stone? Thank you very much!

Hello! I found these two (nearly) identical pieces in an area west of Albuquerque, New Mexico, that would have been the eastern shoreline of the Laramidia continent during the cretaceous. I checked on a geologic map, and the exposed area is all cretaceous sediments. These samples are very hard, despite their seemingly brittle shape, and do not break or disintegrate even when I apply a lot of force to them. They have no other remarkable markings other than their very unusual shape. Do you have any ideas what they could be? Thank you!

Phil from Tulsa, Oklahoma here. I am needing help identifying the following in the photos (2 log sized objects...one is about 3 feet and the other about 2 feet..heavily pitted. The smaller one has a central core pattern (light but visible). Found on lakeshore in NE Oklahoma. In your opinion, rock, fossilized wood, or other. The pieces are very hard-I haven't done a hardness test but it felt like stone and was extremely heavy.

Dear friends, I've met a very nice man that has kept a stone very well hidden as he thinks that it could have some value. I don't understand what it is, but it came into my mind that it can be a fossil. Can you help to indentify it? Thank you very much. Best regards, David Duarte
