Someone who collects rocks had this among some rocks from Wyoming. When washed of mud striations became visible are there any guess as to what it may represent? ? piece of clamshell? I don’t see dentin/. Enamel pattern of tooth. Coral?

We found these near the edge of a dried up lake in France during vacations. Maybe they are just stones? But they have strange markings. Please see the pictures below. Could someone say something what we have come across?

Found these on a beach in the Hastings area, southern England, UK. They were all quite localised and a few metres away couldn't find any more. When smashed they seem like some sort of ore. Wondering what they are and how formed. Many thanks

I'd really like to get more into fossil hunting and rock hounding after how much fun I had at the beach. Are there any good sites I can access around Eastern PA? Specifically up to an hour or two of driving distance from Berks County. When I search for sites in PA I usually see suggestions for Central and West PA. I'm not looking to join any groups atm for personal reasons, but I'll take suggestions for when I feel up to it (there's a group in Reading I'm keeping an eye on). Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, I found this stone in...a charity shop. I really love it but I’m not sure what type of stone it is and the only one I can connect it to would be stromatolite. It has more unusual pattern though. Please could someone help me with identification. It has a clear quartz (I think) in the middle, it should be visible on the photo. Thanks

Licking dinosaur fossils: how does licking rocks help us identify them as fossils?
KrishnaRao10 posted a topic in Questions & Answers
Greetings kind people, I'm so sorry if this is such a noob question. But I've searched and searched but I couldn't find answers to these on internet. (kindly correct me because I feel I maybe wrong): Smithsonian website said licking dinosaur fossil helps in identifying between a rock or a fossil... But isn't fossil a rock in itself? Fossils are made because minerals get replaced and it's not possible for bone to remain in its original state for millions of years. So, it's not the original material anymore.. so licking a fossil should equal to licking a rock? In that case, licki -
I live in Washington, and have lived in Washington since 2017. I wanted to go fossil hunting around Sucia and other places but I am unable too right now. I was looking at marbles around my house, I found a few impressions in the rock that looked like fossils but they really were not. I then saw a stone that had an impression that looked like a fossil and was most convincing (at the time), but I have heavy doubts. Is it a fossil and if so what invertebrate (or even chordate) is it? sorry for the quality, I will take better pictures later
