I have some pictures of weird creatures that I had been collecting online(pictures, not creatures), but never getting around to anything with them, and I keep having to delete them to make room, so I figured I'd just make a thread dedicated to the idea, instead of a thread each time there's a crazy knew whatever I come across. Please feel free to give any info or thoughts, answers or questions about anything brought up, and if there's any weird or particularly cool creature you want to mention, go ahead and post about it, preferably with a picture. it's ok if you don't have a picture, for instance someone might not even know what it's called, and can only describe it some. go right ahead and bring up something new anytime, or to bring something from earlier back up, even if it hasn't been talked about in awhile. If you're posting about something that's not currently being talked about, just be sure to either start by quoting something about it from before, or just preface your post with what thing you're talking about, that way people will know what you're talking about, and won't get confused. If something is getting heavy discussion, anyone can start a new thread to move discussion of that creature over, to make it easier, but if you do, make sure you post the link to the new discussion thread, for everyone! *to avoid confusion, if you're not continuing the discussion from the previous post, just be sure to refer to what you're talking about.

So I’m kinda a metal detecting guy... but I keep finding things that kinda stick out like a sore thumb that are (non metallic).. actually my son found this one flooded lake in northwestern Ontario Canada...at bottom of a eroded clay bank almost on the beach... looks kinda like a horseshoe crab..trying to get some better pics... with the naked eye you can make out a segmented tail (everything really stands out when it’s wet but not sure if that’s a good idea?) any ideas?

Helicoprion's bottom jaw is easily the most bizarre of all sharks. With a bottom jaw shaped like a circular saw, just how did this shark kill/eat prey? Did its bottom jaw lash out to inflict debilitating flesh wounds, or did it do something else?

I found this fossil in Galveston Texas. It is really small about 1cm. The area is late Pleistocene in age, deposits from the Beaumont formation. I found it along with a turtle shell fragment, and 3 crab claws (which are also fossilized).

I'm not sure what this is but it was found on the beach this summer in North Carolina. I thought it was a really strange color contrast. It might just be a shell but I thought I'd see if anyone had other ideas. It is smooth with no sharp edges. Thanks

Figured I’d let everyone see this. I think it’s cool. I found it in the Dry Frio River bed. Not a fossil but interesting.

Found this on the Frio River near Uvalde, Tx. It has a strange shape with a lip around one side of it and it appears to have some kind of a core. Here are some pictures.

I found this over 15 years ago in an alley. I have kept it in a box all this time and now would like to finally figure out what it could be . Any ideas ?

Hello again- I am doing a favor for a friend who is a "picker," and frequents estate sales. He collects many things, but not really fossils or rocks. He did happen across this very odd rock piece and asked me if I had any idea what it could be. At first I thought Ammonite, but upon further review of better photos he sent I doubt it is. It looks to me like an old piece of machinery that left an impression in material that hardened. I've seen it in person since and it is very strange, definitely rock, and doesn't look to be of natural origin; but then again, many fossils or geological finds can look so similar to something of human origin. So, any idea what the hell this thing is? Sorry, being an estate sale he asked questions, but the people running the sale were not family and had no information at all. He bought it for $2! I would have as well for that price!

Hello there (new member here) I'm needing some help ID'ing this strange fossil. I went to a city wide Gem and Mineral show today and happened to run across a bin filled with dig tailings from ether Morocco, or Egypt. Not sure as to where actually they are from but Spinosaurus teeth fragments were found in the same bin along with Sawtooth and unknown croc sp. fragments. I did inquire as to what it was and where they were from but I was told they were just trash and I could take it or leave it. This fossil is very knobby about halfway down, reminds me of Gila Monster beads. It is broken in half and the inside is hollow. The rounded side is thicker than the knobby side and has holes for something like Blood vessels. Measurements are 4 1/2 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide. Thickest part at the rounded tip on the inside is 3/4 inch thick. If you need any further details let me know. I apologize now for the sub-par photos, my camera is VERY old and the focus on it is broken. But I think the photos i have should help in ID'ing what ever this strange thing is. I thought this was an interesting piece. It is a piece of Mudstone that was broken up before it fully mineralized, then stayed in that state long enough to turn into a stone. Strange thing is that ALL of it is still there, even the very small bits that had crumbled apart. It looks soft, but is very hard and a stone now. In all of my years rock hounding this is the best example i have ever found. I really enjoy snapshots in time. Another strange observation is that there isn't any other materials in the cracks. It's amazing it held together so well over the thousands of years. The pictures don't do this thing justice. Has anyone else found any similar rocks? Please share.

Hello, This strange fossil was found in Egypt by my mother. It's roughly 4 inches long and weighs a little under 1 kg. It's shaped like a pear and has four holes, three at the bottom and one on the side towards the tapering top. See attached photos. Side: Front (I assume?): The three holes at the bottom: Any guess as to what this could be? Thanks in advance!

Found this strange fossil in a creek in south central missouri. Itsabout 2 feet wide and is a piece of a much larger piece that is the bed rock of the creek. I have no idea as to what it is

Recently I was in one of those rock shops (that sells minerals and fossils and stuff), there was a bunch of cool things, but i only bought this little tooth. I have no idea what it is (a sign simply said "dinosaur teeth", but i'm not sure about that), and no idea from where it is or how old it is, so that's why i'm asking here. Normally I would be able to identify it myself, but as you will be able to see in the pictures it has an unusual feature. Hello there guys, I recently visited a cave up in the Mediterranean mountains with a group of fellow fossil hunters, among the fossilized water droplets covering the floor I found this strange specimen, I have found many fossils during my fossil hunting lifetime but I am not very good at identifying them. I'd really appreciate any help on what this is, to me it looks like anything from a fossilized skull to a fossilized sapling. I doubt it is a sapling though seeing as I found it in a cave. Thank you
