Two micro items likely from the Oligocene Chandler Bridge Formation of South Carolina. Item 1: ~1.2mm long, ribbed on one surface. A grinding plate? Item 2: 3.8mm long, seems to be capped with irregularly-spaced hollow cylindrical teeth. a chunk from the middle of a fish pharyngeal plate? amphibian? tagging @digit Thanks, all!

Heading to South Carolina, Summerville area for 3 days next week to search for shark teeth and fossils with my 19 year old son. August 2nd - 4th. Anyone interested in meeting up, let me know. I have been there once before years ago, and have been trying to best prepare as it seems the results haven't been so great (reading posts online). Last time we went we had lots of rain and water levels were prohibitive. I read the rules of no tools, which I presume means no sifting. Does anyone know if the rules are only for Summerville itself or surrounding areas too? I know no one wants to give up any spots, but if there are any tips/considerations, please let me know. Thank you

Would it be possible to remove from matrix? Is it better left in the matrix considering it already has damage? The matrix is a hard sandy kind of rock.

Sorry to post again already, but my husband is getting jealous of my finds and wants me to ask what his are. Both were found in Summerville, SC. I'm not sure if ID is possible since they are broken pieces, but maybe one is large enough. I'm thinking Angustiden on the larger one, but could be way off. Thanks for the help; you all are great!

I need help to identify one more thing, please (for now). Found this on the bank at Sawmill Branch in Summerville, SC (note: did not dig, use tools or collanders, or go under the water, although I know I can go under the water once I get a hobby license ). I believe it is my first piece of bone (may have some small chips from the beach, but nothing this size). Husband thinks it's bone, as well. Is there any way to identify something this size? Type of animal and general area of the body is sufficient for me (I don't know what some of the specifics mean anyways). Sorry if the pics aren't great, but the varying depths are confusing the camera, and having tremors doesn't help.

Hi all, I found this piece of bone in the Oligocene Chandler Bridge formation in an area just outside the town of Summerville South Carolina. Is this potentially one of the halves of a whale or large dolphin atlas vertebra?

When I saw the white color I immediately thought it was modern, but an isurus retroflexus tooth found nearby was close to the same color.

Was poking around a spot I've been to a couple times, have found some meg fragments, great white teeth, etc, when I happened to find what I thought was a brick then immediately knew it was a vert. Please help!

This fossil appears to have two holes at equal length on one side and it comes out the back at a larger distance apart. You can see all the way though each hole

My wife found this the other day we have not seen one ever with markings down the sides of the tooth, any idea what species??

Hollow bone. Looks fossilized. Did the burn test just to make sure no burnt hair smell at all. I thought only birds had hollow bones, any ideas??

These look to possibly be small pieces of fossilized turtle shell??

We have found several of these in different sizes on our trips to the creek. They have been cleaned up. Mostly found in the clay sand. Don’t have a clue as to what they are??

We found a few of these stones. It looks like flint or Chert is this correct?? However there are white marks in the stone along with what looks like a shell just trying to ID if these may be fossilized organisms?
