Hello everyone, I went to visit family this past week in Gilmer County, West Virginia and found these mammal teeth in a creek. They were found pretty close to each other, which makes me wonder if they were from the same animal. They appear to be old, but I don’t think they are completely mineralized. They remind me a lot of the bison teeth I find down in Peace River, FL, but this is weird considering there are no cow or buffalo farms very close to the area I found these (that I know of). Anyone have any idea what these are, why they’re here, and how old they could be?

This is a very nicely preserved Pliosaur tooth from Goulmima apparently. It has the details of a Pliosaur tooth. Only question is the color. Lots of them are brown to red colors. This one is grey/black. Could this be from a different location?

Finished a fossil hunt at Big Brook, NJ! Need help with some ID.

The first images are of a bone i am almost certain is non-fossilized but i could always be wrong! can anyone ID the species? Next images are of what i assume may be petrified wood, any chance it is? Its quite heavy for its small size, and has a wood-like texture. Then i have this black shell-like thing, unsure of it’s species but it is certainly something. Lastly i ID’d this tooth as a cretaceous thresher shark tooth- am i right? thank you for your help!

Hi. I would like to ask does anyone have ideas or tips how fossil teeth could be safely displayed? Im soon able to display some of my fossils and planned to get glass showcase, but realised that it might not be efficient for showing small-medium teeth. Most my smaller teeth are individually packed in clear cases and some are in riker cases. Any thoughts? Thanks for answers.

Not quite sure if this piece of fish jaw is X-fish or Pachyrhizodus. What do y'all think? Found in the Ozan formation of Fannin County, Texas.

Hi all! New to the site, new to fossil hunting, and new to the UK! I was taking a walk earlier today at Shingle Street, not looking for fossils. I happened to look down and found this gem! Can anyone help me identify it and tell me how old it is? Thanks!

I’m not sure if some of these are shark teeth, or teeth in general. Is it possible to identify what these are? I’m particularly enthralled by the dark grey flat tooth in the top row. Found these at Calvert cliffs the other day, can you help identify if these are shark teeth and if so what species they belong to?

Greetings, found on southern North Carolina coast. Subject E resembles a tooth but not sure, subject f is hollow like a tooth, and subject g looks like bone perhaps marine mammal? Thank you for your time.

Hi all! I was recently visiting with another naturalist, helping them to identify some of the donated rocks and fossils in their collection. There were a few that stumped us both, and unfortunately they couldn't tell me where any of the specimens were originally found, or the period anything was from with any certainty. I'll make separate posts for the different pieces. But here's part one to start with. A partial jaw with large molars, certainly from a large herbivore. The other naturalist suggested perhaps from a moose, and I also found similarities in the shape to other cervids, so I think this is the right track, but I'm far from an expert, especially on teeth. the jaw measures 8" long, and 3-4" wide. I didn't think to measure individual teeth, but each is over an inch wide.

Can someone help me identify this tooth? There are 4 in total, all found within 50 yards of each other near Williams, Arizona this past weekend. This one is the largest at approximately 3 1/2 inches long and approximately 2 1/2 inches wide. Very old but not fossilized as far as I can tell. I don't know what I'm looking at. I was told they were too big to be bear teeth. There are no visible serrations, they are very large and thick, with a slightly curved angle, coming to a sharp point and a flat back side.

Following up on a recent trip report of mine from Big Brook with some unknown fossils. No experience in this area form me, help is greatly appreciated. Tried to approximate as well as I could 1. has these surface striations that do not appear to be patterns, rounded on one end. My hope is coprolite. 2. has one similar striation across the middle. Bottom of this specimen looks like it has been sharpened to a point Pretty unsure about all of these, but all of them have some surface marking/feature that show it is a fossil. 7. very weathered but appears to be a tooth 8 & 9. Appear to almost fit together, a feature like a straight line runs down the side of these pieces 10. smooth, but comes to a point on the ends, not sure if this is a fossil 12-14. Rock or bone fossil?

My first trip to big brook with the boys yielded lots of cool stuff. I’m a fossil noob but read all the forum posts, facebook, big brook website, fossil guy sit, etc before posting. I have some other pictures to post but these i feel are the strongest change of “being something” What is everyone’s thoughts? coolest stuff i think we have, crab arms/claw, a shrimp?, jaw bone, enamel from dinosaur teeth, shark teeth, fossil clams, impressions of clams, sea turtle bone. I am least sure of 9d though i’m hoping it is a tooth of some kind, could very well be a rock!

Hello, my 6 yr old has shown some interest in geology and fossils so we went on a day trip to fossil hunt at Matoaka Beach in Saint Leonard, MD. We found a few things on the beach that we wanted to give her more information on to help fuel her interest. My husband and I are clueless about this stuff, so just wanted to ask if anyone had some interesting little tidbits about the attached pictures that we could share with her. Thanks in advance!
