    Looking for help

I'm sure it's only a rock but I'm still asking, found in Hidalgo County NM and the area is from the Maastrichtian era. I'm also including a few found very close by.
  2. Hello everyone, I'm going to start my shark teeth collection and actually I don't know how to identify a fossil shark tooth and differentiate from a modern shark tooth. I hope you can help me because I am really enjoying this topic and I want to learn more about it.
  3. Hello I am looking for Tyrannosaurus teeth from the JRF or Hell creek formation. They should be larger than 2 inches. For exchange I have the following: Spinosaurus teeth larger than 5 inch Carcharodontosaurus teeth Meg teeth Abelisaurus teeth Rebbachisaurus teeth Basilosaurus teeth Pterosaur teeth Mosasaurus jaw piece Trilobite For all my fossils I have a coa with proof of origin. I would be very pleased about an email. Pictures I send of course gladly on request. Kind regards

Found in the South Toe River

Hey all! We uncovered these two horn/tusk/tooth looking items under silt and huge rock on a bend in the South Toe River in Burnsville, NC. Any ideas? We thought maybe steer? They aren’t scratchable with a finger nail and one definitely has some pattern at the tip. We are more curious than anything to find out if anyone knows what they might be. Could totally just be roots or wood but thought we’d check.
  5. Last weekend our club got together in a quarry. The leader said it was primarily for mineral collection and explained few if any fossils are found in this Devonian material. He was absolutely correct and I was equally disappointed! Our club hunts typically produce both minerals and fossils. But not this quarry. Here is what I scraped up: Not too impressive for 8 hours of exploration. I did manage to also find a trilobite cephalon that I donated to a member that found a pygidium. Anyways, the minerals, unlike the fossils were plentiful, varied , and beautiful. I stumbled upon one vug that measured close to 24 inches across and was on the lower corner of a 2 ton boulder, covered with 1-2 inch crystals!!. The belt of my rock saw gave out after about 30 minutes of rock removal forcing me to leave it behind. Our leader is going to see if the quarry can pull this beast to the side and he will try to extract this wonderful specimen. When I returned home and began chipping matrix away from some of the vugs, a special treat was in store for me. A black spot showed up on the exposed layer of a specimen as I worked on it. After I exposed more of the dark area, it turns out, this quarry did indeed have an exceptional Devonian fossil. I am not sure of the identity of this tooth. So these images will also show up in "Fossil ID"

Shark and ray teeth from Belgium - ID help

Hello everyone, I found these shark and ray teeth on the seashore between Knokke and Het Zwin, in Belgium. Could someone help me to identify them? Thank you in advance.

    Fossilized Tooth?

Can anyone identify this? It was found on a dirt road in SE Georgia near the coast. Dredgings from the shipping channel are used to fortify dirt roads. I know it's difficult to do using pictures alone so I'll include as many clear shots as possible.

    Acheroraptor 2nd premax

@Troodon I suppose this is the one-decade-later version of the same tooth I posted earlier? Hell Creek formation, Garfield co, Montana CH: 12.7mm CBL: 7.2mm CBW: 3.5mm Mesial serration density: 8/mm Distal serration density: about 4/mm Thanks!

    Saurornithelestes 2nd premax?

This reminds me of those specialized Acheroraptor premax 2 teeth (for preening?). I'm never seen one for Saurornithelestes, but I suspect that's what this is. I don't know if Dromaeosaurus has anything like this. Judith River formation, Hill co, Montana CH: 7.3mm (I added 0.3mm for tip wear) CBL: 4.8mm CBW: 2.3mm Mesial serration density: 4.8/mm Distal serration density: about 9.5/mm
  12. Just wondering if you see anything fishy about this small but pretty megalodon tooth. Thanks!
  13. Hi people. So I want to get a meg tooth for my son and I'm a complete novice when it comes to spotting a fake or a tooth that has been restored or polished. I was wondering people's thoughts on this tooth for all the above.
  14. I found this in a sand dune near Morro Bay, California. I've had it for decades, and am curious if anyone can shed some light on it's identification. To me, it looks like a tooth, but I've never seen any fossil teeth in photos that look like this. Thank you in advance!
  15. Its to my understanding that many Megalodon teeth come with Unfortunate modifications, in order to artificially boost price. My question on thus particular tooth is, does the root look reconstructed, or does it appear to be unmodified? I'll post more pictures if everything checks out.

    Is this a fossilized tooth?

I recently found a few fossil mammal bone fragments near Cape Town along the beach, and then I came across this strange object. I thought it resembles a large mammal tooth but I’m not sure if it is a fossil or not, if so what is it?
  17. These are all out of the same estate auction as my earlier posts. One of the members, found that much of the collection was posted on this site by the former owner but these weren’t. I sent him a message but doubt I will hear back given the nature of estate auctions. Any help identifying these is as always greatly appreciated.

    Rock or fossil?

Hi! Found this tooth looking rock while hiking near Mieserkogel, Austria. Could it be a fossil or just a strange shaped rock?
  19. Like the title says. It was found along the river on a gravel/sand bar. It's Mammals and heavy so definitely mineralized.
  20. This past Wednesday I decided to take a ride over to my Eocene pit. I have not been over there much lately but as I have shown in the past it has produced some amazing fossils. Well, it did it once again!! Eocene Castle Hayne Formation Comfort Member 43.4 mm (1.71 inch) wide at the base of the tooth. 36.4 mm (1.43 inch) on one slant and 35.4 mm (1.39 inch) on the other slant. This is measuring just tooth. No root. After conversing with @Boesse he says it is probably best to identify it as a milk tooth of a small basilosaurid. An upper P3 or P4. Quite exciting!!

I found this fossilized tooth in/near/around the Arkansas River in Oklahoma over the weekend. I’m having trouble finding a match for it online in order to ID it myself. I was hoping someone from this group could help. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
