I've been a lurker for a while. First time I've gotten the courage to post. Did I indeed find a shark's tooth, or are my teenagers right to patronize me? This was found on a beach in San Pedro, California.

Years ago I got this as a child. It came out of a basket of common fossil shells. I thought it was a Crocodile or Alligator tooth. Now, as a more informed adult, I think it's just a vaguely tooth-shaped rock. It has no enamel to speak of. Feels like limestone. Can anyone confirm? It's maybe an inch and a half long at best.

So my kids have gotten into rocks of all kinds. I’ve done some cleaning but didn’t want to go any further till I might be able to find out what this might be. to me it looks like some kind of animal with an eyeball and possibly a tooth but I’m not sure if that’s right or if it’s just a funky looking rock. Any ideas?!?

This looks like a claw to me, but someone suggested possibly an alligator tooth. I was at the understanding that most alligator teeth are round and hollow.

Good morning This was found along the water way of Lake Erie Ontario, Canada. Not sure if it's a tooth or claw. I have been told possibly from a bear but we don't have bears in the area so I figured it washed ashore from Pennsylvania. (Don't mind the hole, we drilled it to make a necklace for my son Lol). Thank you

Part two of our series of mystery fossils from the nature center! As I said in my previous post, this was donated to the center with no indication of where it was found or what time period it may be from, which is wildly unhelpful... But onto the details that might actually be helpful. This one is a yellow-brown mineral, with a hardness of about two. There is a piece broken off at the top and from there it can be seen how it broke in a sort of triangle, with the perfect center of the tube where the point comes together. It's not perfectly round, with long planes that are faintly tangible to fingers, but still it maintains a nice even taper down to it's point. My dad suggested it might be a crocodillian tooth, and there appear to be striations that also run the length of it, which seems consistent with the reptile tooth fossils I have seen in the past.

Goodmorning! A few days ago I went for a rockhounding session nearby, in Numansdorp in the Netherlands. They have a massive pile of rocks - for covering the road (so construction material). I have found lots of pieces of agates here. Probably it's mined somewhere like Steenwijk, but don't precicely know where they harvest these rocks. Besides the gorgeous agates I found in this pile, I also found something I have no clue about.. First I thought it was something like a squid, so extremely old.. but.. I looked around the internet - so now I am guessing it is some sort of tooth? Can somebody help me out with ID'ing this piece? And is it possible to have some sort of clue on the age of this? (not specific, but is it a day old or a year - like that :)). The measurments are in CM. Thank you very much in advance!

I went fossil hunting out near the nearby creek today, since i had some free time. Here’s what i found: while i’m sure this first one is a concretion, i wanna know what yall think! Here’s the second one, which interested me way more- first one is 5cm, second one is 9 and a half centimeters: if you look closely- you can see weird markings on the second fossil that look almost like a tire track. Let me know what yall think that is.

Hello, my name is Crystal and I'm new here. I love rocks and hiking. So, after work yesterday I went on a hike and found what to me appears to be a tooth or a claw that is stone now. Anyone have any ideas for me? I am from Ruidoso, NM. I was hiking on the side of a mountain near a couple of den that were inside the rocks on the cliff side. We are known for having bears and mountain lions here now. I do not know what type of mammals were here before. I'm pretty sure we were under water once upon a time as well. Just thought someone here may be able to enlighten me

Hello, Yesterday I came across this tooth on a beach local to me in south west Scotland. I first thought seal but have discovered it’s too large and can’t think what else is in the waters around Scotland that could fit a canine tooth so large. Any help is appreciated.

I acquired these many years ago and forgot about them. I had them classified as Hadrosaur Teeth but think that is wrong. Could just be polished rocks. Any help is appreciated.

While combing my local beach in Virginia Beach, I came across this piece. The inside coloring and texture has me questioning tooth, much like some of the broken pieces of GWs that I’ve found in the same area. Shaped like an oval cylinder, about 3 inches long. Tusk? Rock?
