My 7 year old daughter and I found this last week on West Runton beach near to where a fossilised woolly mammoth was found a few years back. Curious to know whether its an animal or vegetation/tree fossil, or just some sort of mineral deposit. Many thanks in advance.

Hello all! I found this in a creek in Stark County, Illinois over the summer. I’ve been hunting fossils all my life and I’ve never seen anything like this. At first I thought it was a piece of pottery, but it’s more wood-like. Kinda. I mean, I’m stumped. Any thoughts would be appreciated! (Roku remote for scale…ha)

Found this in a large creek bed in Dolly Sods WV in the mountains. 8-12 pound stone or so, made a good hiking companion lol. Anyway, looks like it could be an imprint of an extinct tree or a garfish or something but it doesn’t make sense to me that the lines are impressed and the diamond formations are raised, which would make me thing some type of tree or something. Thoughts??

I was hiking with my dad, a little Southwest of Syracuse, and came across a rock. On one side it almost looks like rings from a tree. On another side it has crinoids and some sort of shells. I was wondering if this might be fossilized wood? Thanks!

I found this cool looking lady recently on my property which is located in the border of Denton and Wise counties in Texas. The formation is the Cretaceous Duck Creek Formation: Mortoniceras and Eopachydiscus. What raised my eyebrows about this piece were a few things. On one end of the rock it has several, somewhat uniform, divots reminiscent of that of a golf ball. They are very prominent and looked very odd to me. Secondly was in, and around the whole on either side appears to be agatized material. Further more in those same areas is an agatized “tube” that is perfectly cylindrical. Any id

I found this a number of years ago not far from Oshkosh WI. It seems quite heavy for its size and has that very interesting pattern. Possible wood grain, something else or just a rock? It was located in an area which has been disturbed many times - former farm field. Thanks for your input!! Jim
