Hello everyone, I have dwindling amounts of material from my trip to paupack to be identified. This is some spiriferids from the trilobite ridge, these were especially numerous. Some layers were basically made out of them. I'd like to get a species or at least a genus on these guys, the loose one I'm thinking of labeling and placing in a river mount, then sending it to the land owner. The formation is questionable as there are many present, although it's probably lower Devonian (although some late Silurian exist).

Is this a trilobite segment? Found on the trilobite ridge . The second one is the outline in case you can't see it, sorry it turned itself, I don't know why it did that.

Two things from trilobite ridge. I have absolutely no idea what the first one is, but I'm hoping it's a weird deformed trilobite cephalon, although it's probably not. Is the second (a corkscrew) a crinoid? It's different from the ones I've seen. Sorry one of the first got mixed up in the second.

I got to hunt on the trilobite ridge for a very short time, thanks to @GordonC for letting me know it existed and Jeff from this site for the directions and other tips. I had a very short time to hunt, but it was productive. I've got lot of spiriferids and other goodies, but best of all the first thing I saw, as if placed by divine intervention, a trilobite pygidium! This is the first real trilo I've found, although I find an extremely small piece of one in Maryland, so this is why I'm very excited even for a fragment. Any one know the species? I know it could do with some prep, but it's to delicate for me to attempt. If any pros want to prep it for me extremely cheaply, pm me. I can get more pictures if needed.

Lower Devonian Unknown find from Montague, NJ. - Hypostome?

On 12/5/2016, I was lucky enough to get out and hunt with Gordon C and JeffreyP , in the Lower Devonian area in Montague, NJ. known as Trilobite Ridge. I made many good finds, but did come across an unknown item. (at least to me!) I am unsure of what it is - either a ventral cephalon of a trilobite, or a single valve of a brachiopod. Hello, all fossil hunters! My name is Jeff, and I just wandered into this forum thru a google search. I live in Montague, NJ, 500 feet from the fabled "Trilobite Ridge". I have lived here since 1997 and have been collecting fossils here ever since. I will be posting a thread on the New Jersey page, and I will fully discuss this locality as well as other nearby fossil locations. I have first hand knowledge of these sites and can "clear the air" when it comes to alot of speculation and misinformation about these sites and what can be found here. See you on the NJ page! Jeff
