Paleozoic rock. I found this looking back through some scrap rocks. I think this is a stone I found some crinoids, brachiopods, horn corals, and a trilobite in before. .75 inches long (sorry for not including a scale in the picture) thanks!

Hello, Here are a bunch of old collection fossils that have me stumped...almost no info on provenance so tricky, but I'm hoping I can get at least a fossil identity for them if possible. There are 13 in total, here goes: 1. Crustacean/brachiopod steinkern? 2. Crustacean? Brachiopod? 3. Is this a coral? 4. No clue...thought orthocone but seems too thin? 5. No clue 6. Thought some sort of echinoderm but almost looks six-sided? Reminds me of a construction nut used for screws. 7. Some sort of brachiopod? 8. This seems like a trilobite pygidium, appears to be on a white block of matrix? Any guesses as to specific ID? 9. These seem echinoderm. The one with the protrusion in the center might be an echinoid plate, the rest crinoid plates? 10. I'm guessing these are echinoid spines 11. Looks like some heteromorphic ammonite sections. The one on the right with a double row of tubercles might be Nostoceras or Didymoceras? 12. I'm pretty sure these are Conulariids but does the preservation inform the provenance or ID further? EDIT: one more: 13. Orthocone? Thanks!

My First Trilobite: looks real or fake?

Hello, This is my first post. I recently purchased this item being sold as an authentic trilobite. It was in a box of about 12 and I purchased it cheap. If it's real, fantastic. If not, it's a minor loss. It is 3.75 inches/9.525 cm long. Please see the attached photos Thank you for all your help! Dave

Found in Michigan LP. Devonian age probably? Loads of corals and other agatized fossils wash up on that beach. This is the only one I’ve found like this.

I think I got taken (thankfully not for very much)

Got some new fossils back to my house and realized I got a real whopper once I put them under good lighting. "Baby croc skull" is clearly molded with attached ?mosasaur teeth and painted with sand. Place also had a few fossil dragonflies and fossil fish. Thinking my starfish and trilobite are also fake. Thankfully ammonites are too cheap to fake or I wouldn't have gotten any actual fossils. Aside: Are any of the trilobite earrings real?

So I took my folks out to West VA to see the Lost river site, had a splendid time of it just picking through the shale, but I found some absolutely mysterious specimens that I could use some help in identifying. This one I had thought was a colonial organism, but it doesnt match the bryzoan or corals ive seen in the area This one I believe is a brachiopod of some sort, any idea the Genus? I picked up this rock and noticed that there was a glabella furrow of a trilobite species in it. I dont know what species it is, all I know is that its Not an Eldredgeops. lastly a gentleman said that this looked like a sand dollar, however I am not certain its not just a formation. oh and theres this thing, I think its the tippy tip of a cephalopod. but a crinoid stem is just as likely. let me know if theres anything to look out for.

JFollowing the advice of some of the people on the forum here I spent part of yesterday afternoon collecting fossils near Kingston NY on the road cutouts on route 9W I was able to get quite a few decent hash plates consisting of Devonian Brachiopods. Unfortunately, I am not yet familiar enough with the area to identify these to the genus or species level (the only brachiopods I know how to ID are Laptaena because they are my favorites and sadly none of these are them). I also found what I think might be a trilobite tale but I think it could also just as easily be more brachiopods, and one fossil, the second to last one pictured here I think might be a broken platyceras or similar Gastropod but I am just not sure. Any help with ID’s would be much appreciated. I also have no way to get images with a reference for scale until later today as I am at my grandparents summer house which is basically a cabin in the woods lol with very little in the way of rulers or even coins.

Hello everyone! I'm new here and new to fossil everything and learning as much as I can. I may have found my first trilobite and I have ideas of what it could be but not good at all with the process of identification or how it is oriented on/in the matrix. There are faint lines around the entire piece that seems to be other trilobites/parts. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks for looking! Please excuse any mistakes this is also my first time ever posting on a forum.

I found this in Decorah Iowa at a road cut. I don’t know whether it is from the Decorah Formation, though. I used a thin, stiff wire to scrape away some of the matrix. I wonder whether it is the lower part of a trilobite. Thanks for any thoughts!

Hello all! I’ve been going through some of my fossils from the New Scotland Formation and I stumbled upon this intriguing little piece. It’s about a centimeter wide and seems to be separated in the middle, almost like two connected plates of some kind. I’ve got a decent collection from this formation and I’ve never seen anything like this. Hopefully somebody on here can help me out. Thanks for looking!!

Hello all! So I’ve been messing around with my collection lately and I came across this piece. It’s from the Onondaga Limestone, probably from Onondaga County. I was wondering if there’s any chance it’s a weathered piece of a Terataspis Grandis? Or if it’s something else entirely. Thanks for the help! Owen

This is my third and final request for an ID today!!! I lean towards this being a trilobite. If there is doubt, I will use a hammer to help expose this. If it is likely a trilobite, I will work on it in a little less physical way. It was collected 2 weeks ago in SW Wisconsin, Platteville Formation, Ordovician. Mike

I found this in the sangamon river by Decatur Illinois in Macon county. It was found in what looked like a glacial depost in the river. I don't think it is a brachiopod as the shape doesn't quite look right. I think it might be the tail of trilobite.

I was fossil hunting in Tully NY and came across this. At first glance, it’s a pretty meat plate, but when I took a second look, I saw something that reminded me of a partial trilobite. It’s in the bottom left corner. This very well could be me being hopeful, but there’s no harm in asking!! Any insights are greatly appreciated!

Hello all I was relooking at a piece I obtained many years ago. It has a beautifel cephalon of Trinucleus fimbriatus, which was the reason I bought it. I noticed this weird, rond fossil in the same piece. I was not a member here then and I didn't found it online. I forgot about the object until today. Now I want to know what it is. Does anyone here has an idea? I thought It might be one of the early development stages of a trilobite. It looked like a protaspis but is way to big (online they say protaspis are less than 1 mm, while this piece is 4mm) It's from the middle Ordovician of Builth Wells, Wales. Thanks already.

Hey, I was fossils hunting in Ohio and found some pretty neat stuff, but one Rock in particular had some strange fossils in it, it almost looks like a little trilobite plus some other stuff.

Howdy all, I cleaned up a small hash plate and found this curious formation.... I believe this is the cephalon portion of a trilobite. If it is, this is the largest T-bizzle I have found! Let me know your thoughts. I'm finding some really packed hash plates from my recent dig. Sorry again for the poor picture. I really need to get a camera. Anyone know how to sneak one of those by the wife? ;p

I found this nodule and didn't freeze and thaw as I thought it contained scraps so I used the hammer tap instead. Under the loupe I can see features that remind me of trilobites. I am hoping that's what it is as I don't find many. I took about 30 shots and although not great they are the best I could do..
