Hello, I just recently joined the group and I am hoping for some help on this fossil. Other than the photos, I can't offer any information on it. About 20 years ago I was at an estate sale, in an old home, and spotted a rock up on the foundation in the basement. Upon retrieving it and blowing off the layers of dust and dirt, I found this fossil. I asked if it was for sale, and bought it for a dollar. The texture on the fossil has caused my imagination to wander, but I have no idea what it might be or where it came from. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks.

Greetings once more, This is my second posting and has a direct correlation to my opening post. As previously stated the fossil/geode, displayed in the photos, has been in my possession since my father's passing in 2004. I have no idea as to where or how he obtained but will say that he was a traveler and collector of various items from around the world. The identity of this item has been the topic of many discussions between my wife and kids (now grown). They both still ask me as to "What is it?". So I humbly call upon the members today; What is it? FYI, I will be posting several high resolution pics (11) for your review Regards Mark

Greetings to all in advance and thank you, as well, for taking the time to read my post. A small introduction of myself is that I am one of many interest and not of enough time in one's life to delve into each and every aspect of my varied and wide arrange of interest. Thus my topic stating that I am a jack of all trades and master of none. Guess it could be worse. I just found this forum as I was trying to do some due diligence into a piece that I believe is a fossil and not a geode. The searching lead me to this Forum and I hope that someone will be able to finally give me an answer to my question. As this is a portion of the Forum for intros I will not post photos here but will in an appropriate section. I will say that the forthcoming item came from my father who passed away over 13 years ago. He traveled throughout the country and world during his life and I can't say for sure where this came from. It has resided in my freezer since that time. My suspicion is that it came from out West (Arizona, New Mexico era) but can't confirm at this time. I hope that there is someone that can answer this question/riddle for me as to what this is. Thanks in advance. Mark

Good Evening! Would anyone by chance know how to identify this fossil? I found it interesting because of the "branches" coming out in a circular pattern. And at the center it appears to have some form of crystal that developed. The location of this fossil is Island Park, Eastern Idaho, in a boulder field on the south eastern side of the base of Mount Jefferson. If you have any questions or need more information, please let me know Any comments are greatly appreciated, thank you!

This fossil was tucked away at the back of my Whitby ammonite collection draw with no label. I’ve asked my son if he could shed any light on how it came to be there. As it’s not like any Whitby Ammonite I’ve seen before, and to be honest it almost has a somewhat Silurian gastropod appearance to it similar to Poleumita discors which I have a few. My son is often rummaging through my fossil draws which is absolutely fine. I’ve kept a record of all the fossils that have been collected over the years but unfortunately this one has slipped under the radar. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

So I was fishing on a ditch bank today. After climbing the ditch bank, I looked down and found a rock. I had to keep it. I was trying to figure out what type of fossil this is. I have always been obsessed with rocks and fossils. Please help.

I need help to identify a fossil found on the Illinois side of the Ohio River near the Shawnee National Forest.

Sorry, my grandma's not fossilized... The fossil I need help identifying was unearthed by my grandfather, a heavy equipment operator outside of Boston about 40 years ago. He has since passed away and I promised my Grandma I would research it for her. The stone is very heavy, the size of the fossil is about 8-9 inches long (I didn't think to measure when I took the pics). My Grandma can't remember for sure the town where it was excavated but it was close to the city. I have no idea what it is or even if it actually is a fossil, we always assumed it was a plant, some sort of fern possibly. Would love to hear what you all think. Many thanks and let me know if you need better pictures or more info. -Christian

These were all found around Aurora, Missouri. I am sorry I can't give the exact location or more detailed information, as it was just a hobby for all of us to pick them up before we got interested in identifying them. A type of coral? This I have no idea, but it interested me. And even more unusual: Thank you for any help you can give us. We really appreciate it. Danielle

I found this in somerset England i was unsure of what it was I thought it may have been a egg shell of some sort. However I looked at the edge of the shell and compared to others and it doesn't have a cracked edge like others. Also the pattern is slightly different. Any ideas let me know thanks

I found these two solid tube like formations by the Kansas River near Manhattan KS. From what I can tell, Riley county is Permian. They are not hollow inside but definitely have openings at each end. I also found a tiny rock that resembles a chewed piece of gum with an obvious pattern on it ( from the same area ) I'll post some photos. It will be awesome if anyone knows what these are ! Darla
