Can anyone tell me what this is?

I know I included a whole lot of images. I just wanted to cover all the bases. I believe it was picked up somewhere between Portland Or and St. John's Arizona during a road trip but I can't say for certain. Thank you for any knowledge you all could share.
  2. would love to know what this is found on arable land, while metal detecting dave
  3. Went to Green Mill Run, NC, over the weekend and found the usual various shark teeth and belemnites, but also found these coin-shaped objects. They all have a round shape on the middle on one side. Several have a small hole by an edge. Any ideas? Thanks for the help!
  4. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help identify these possible fossils found in the Hokianga Harbour in New Zealand?
  5. A lot going on here. Found an oddity yesterday trying to figure out if petrified wood or bone. The outside of it shows evidence it rolled in sand a while. Plus confusion is outside layer looks like an old bone look. My past petrified wood finds in comparison. Next my petrified wood is being studied to figure out tree and timeline. It's very rare even though up to 26 pieces found in one location. Next a paleontologist did confirm the one find was a tooth. Less than a mile from petrified wood location. Im making big discoveries but learning even more. A geoscientist is talking to me on almost a daily basis. He is a Dr at a university. I am very grateful with his help and patience. If anyone can figure out if petrified wood or bone thanks.

    Found while camping Unknown Fossil?

My partner and I went camping and while walking around, near the water ledges, this was lying partially in the dirt and cracked in half. When we pulled it up the cap came off and now we have this unknown fossil, possibly. It’s our first and I was curious to find people that had WAY more knowledge and would be excited to look at this puzzling find. Thank you! TheTravelingCouple
  7. Another for me difficult fossils from the Vaalser groenzand (The Formation of Vaals or Vaalser Groenzand is a geological formation from the last Late Cretaceous). Fossils from the Vaals green sand are sparsely distributed, and yet it is extraordinarily rich in fossils. Unfortunately, very little is documented about it. What do you think this is? I was thinking about sea lilies myself. But not sure.... A few more pictures, doesn't this look like sharing a stem? These pieces are relatively lightweight. Certainly in comparison with the Limestone itself. I can't identify the ribbed structure.

    Unknown...fossil?

Part two of our series of mystery fossils from the nature center! As I said in my previous post, this was donated to the center with no indication of where it was found or what time period it may be from, which is wildly unhelpful... But onto the details that might actually be helpful. This one is a yellow-brown mineral, with a hardness of about two. There is a piece broken off at the top and from there it can be seen how it broke in a sort of triangle, with the perfect center of the tube where the point comes together. It's not perfectly round, with long planes that are faintly tangible to fingers, but still it maintains a nice even taper down to it's point. My dad suggested it might be a crocodillian tooth, and there appear to be striations that also run the length of it, which seems consistent with the reptile tooth fossils I have seen in the past.

    Unknown Bone

Good afternoon everyone, Attached you will find some photos of a bone that I found. Here's the story: I live in the Cascade foothills of northwest Washington. Shortly after purchasing our property I began minor ground work to install a simple shed. When digging I found this bone. It appeared to me to be a human thumb bone. I assume it's old due to the excessive wear on the back joint. I stopped digging at that spot and moved elsewhere to place the shed. My questions for the forum are: Is it human?? Is it animal?? What is this bone I dug up? I do know many, many years ago that the first known travelers to North America came through the region the property is located. Also, the property is in an area where multiple Native American tribes used to roam. I must also note that the property is located on the south side of a small mountain (1200') that has 2 non-man made landings with views of the valley below. ANY help in identifying this will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jay and Michelle
  12. Howdy y'all! I have found a few interesting things that I could use some help with ID. These are all either Eagle Ford, Del Rio or Georgetown Formation. Any help is appreciated! First are the teeth: Are these Protoshyraena teeth? That's what I was able to find online because they look an awful lot like Barracuda teeth I've found in the Miocene. 1 and 2 :Two teeth - top row and bottom row. Both are about 1/4 inch 3, Assuming this is some kind of Fish Tooth 1/8 inch 4. This is an odd thing. I have found Ray teeth here, but this doesn't look like anything I've seen. 1/8 inch 5. Not even sure if this is a tooth..possibly a spine? And now some other thingies: 6. I have found MANY of these things. I have no idea what they are. Part of a starfish? It's a weird little thing 7. Another little thing I'm finding quite a few of is this little foram. I'd love to get an ID on it. 8. And lastly, this odd little round bicolor thing! I have heard of fossil pearls being found in the Eagle Ford! But I think the indent precludes that idea:. Size 1/8 inch

    Baked mud or skin?

Hi folks! I'm a total newbie at this but found an unusual block at West Runton beach, Norfolk. It's 3" x 1" x 1" approx, with a clearly defined print on one face. The whole block is quite uniform in colour, but there appears to be an underlying structure which can be seen at a couple of corners. I've not seen anything remotely like it at West Runton before so it stands out a bit. My best amateurish guesses are either solidified baked mud or some kind of skin print- but given the find location I'm not sure either are very likely! I hope someone can be more definite!

    Matoaka Beach 8-12-18

I packed up my gear and wandered along the Matoakan cliffs for my thousandth time now (that's what it feels like) and had a half decent day. I found two teeth with guesses for both that I want to ask y'all for conformation, and some weird scute type things. Scutes: Tooth One: Thresher? 1/2 inch in size Tooth Two: Baby Meg or Silky? Final Finds Thanks Guys! I may also add that I felt so miffed when someone pulled up a big meg from a clay boulder I was going to go to next. Its like the Shark Tooth gods are against me. What sacrilege have I committed?
  18. Hi, heres another one I can't identify. Referring to the dark lines at top of photos #1 & #2 I didn't know that there was an Isotelus pygidium (near the bottom of photo #3), only about an 1/8 inch of it was visible when I picked it up. Cleaned it up and found something good! Many thanks! Size of unknown fossil is 2cm x 7mm #1 #2 #3
