    Baby something? Turtle?

Found in Moab, Utah in a creek or stream. It's hard to get pictures showing the true shape but this can't be just another rock.
  14. KayTee

    VanGogh's Ear?

This has got to be something? Fou d in Utah - 1st on looks like VanGogh's Ear. The second a small loaf of bread. I don't know
  15. Fossil Collect

    Fossil hunting in utah

Hi I’m going to Utah in April and I am looking for some good places to collect. I’m specifically looking for some Morrison formation places but I’m open to anything. Thanks.
  16. Hey there forum folks... anyone in Casper this evening is welcome to come to the Tate Museum's lecture series. These happen every now and then. Tonight's talk is by Joe Peterson of UW (Wisconsin, not Wyoming) at Oshkosh. He will be talking about his research on the Cleveland-Lloyd Allosaurus bonebed in Utah... "How Did they die?" Not in Casper? That's OK, it will be on Facebook Live at 7PM mountain time. We are 7 hrs behind Greenwich. https://www.facebook.com/events/635869241681017 Not on FB? we may try to record it for the museum's YouTube channel.
  17. Hey there, got a pickle for y’all. This one was given to me and it was said it was from Dakota sandstone in central Utah. Not sure if this means the Naturita Formation, very low Mancos Shale, or very high part of the Morrison formation. I was thinking it was a vertebra but with how deep the curve is I am wondering if it is a toe or extremity bone or some sort? added some closeups of it under a microscope, varied from 600x to 2000x magnification
  18. I purchased this a long time ago (I cannot remember where) and the seller claimed it was an Elrathia Kingii. As it says on the card, it is apparently “Pre-Cambrian,” although Elrathia kingii originated during the Cambrian. It appears at first glance genuine, but I’d like to be sure.
  19. AJ the Tyrant

    Acrocanthosaurus?

I've got a rarity to try and confirm today, folks. The seller says it's an Acrocanthosaurus tooth. It is from the Cedar Mountain fm. (if I remember correctly, tooth morphology has not been described from this formation) in Grand County, Utah. The serration density per 5mm is about 17 on the mesial side and about 15 on the distal side. Due to its possible rarity, I understand that I may have to provide more information about the tooth, so let me know if there is additional specifications needed.
  20. Found this fun fossil in the green river formation near Spanish Fork UT! Would love some input on what it may be
  21. L.S., Hopefully the collective knowledge of TFF community will once again prove able to identify something that has stumped me. This time I need your help with these curious stem fragments! A good friend of mine purchased these at a mineral show on the US mainland. The specimens potentially originate from Kane County, Utah, but this provenance is far from bulletproof. It is quite likely, however, that they come from somewhere within the USA. The stems exhibit a hollow centre, with a ribbed internal surface (pith structure?). None of the specimens show nodes or other signs of axial segmentation, however. The cross-sections (both rough and weathered as well as polished) show seemingly regularly spaced vascular structures. The larger "pores", especially, are quite striking. Scale on images is in centimetres. If the Kane County provenance is correct, then a Mesozoic age seems likely. But, again, provenance is very much in question still! Has anyone on TFF seen this type of petrified stems before? Any information you could provide would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Tim

  25. From the album: Wheeler Formation

This was carefully prepped out with serendipitous results, as the main attraction was always the Asaphiscus.
