  1. Ok, I'm finally got the chance to post these finds from about 3 weeks ago. So, three weeks ago we took a dive trip down in Venice, left Saturday, and came back after the dive Sunday, anyway it took a over a week to get everything cleaned off. Here's the finds. and as I was going through my Camara roll I realized that I forgot to take a picture of the clean finds before I put them away. My brains been scrambled up. Thanks for reading anyway, hope you enjoyed.

    Venice FL Shark Tooth Sifting

All found during a shark tooth hunting trip in Venice, FL. New to fossil hunting and would really appreciate any identification help. Last 2 pictures are the same but at different angles. Thanks!

Possible Tusk or Tooth Fossil ID?

Hello all! I found this fossil diving about a mile off the beach in Venice, Florida in around 30 ft of water and was hoping someone here might be able to help me get an ID on it. I initially thought it was a rib bone when I was underwater but the guide we were with said it could be some kind of tusk or tooth due what looks like an enamel layer on the outside and a core running through it. You can see what looks like an outermost enamel layer that has peeled off (especially visible in photos # 2,5,6), as well as a cross hatch pattern on the material underneath (especially visible in photo # 5). The wider end piece looks to have a core running through the middle that has kind of a tear drop shape (photo # 4). The wider end piece seems to have somewhat of a rounded triangle shape to it (photo # 4). The smaller broken end piece has a shimmery surface that looks almost like obsidian (photo # 3). Let me know if anyone would like more pictures or information on this recent addition to my collection. Any thoughts on this fossil are much appreciated, thank you!!! Best, James

    Megalodon Upper Tooth

Found this gem on a Friday at a job site. Very few flaws; made my day.

    Scute? Shell?

I found this in a mixed pile of shell and random marine fossils in Venice, FL. I thought it was a turtle shell when I originally grabbed it, but cleaned it off and noticed the shiny mystery extruding from the top. I'm not certain what it is, so I leave up to you. Thanks in advance

    Tooth or claw?

I have two different pieces I was wondering about. I have my assumptions, maybe whale tooth on the 1st one and the 2nd barracuda, but there's a grove on the inside of it. I found them in Venice Florida in a shell pile. There was a lot of marine life there, whale, manatee ect and petrified wood. Thanks PS can sucks from abuse

    What is this?

I'm not sure what this is. I have my speculations but that's all they are curious to see what you all think. It was found in Venice Florida around a lot of shell, tons of whale bones, manatee, very little sharks teeth, did find a lateral megladon tooth though. It has some curious ridges on it that's got me guessing and maybe the biggest clue. Excuse the gnarly fingers, I do art and construction. Thanks

    Ray mouth plate?

Thinking this is a Ray mouth plate. The one on top is my question. I don't find them this large, the other is just there to compare. Found in Venice Florida in mound of fill dirt.

    Is this coprolite?

I'm still trying to get familiarized with coprolite. I found this in a lake that is being dug. It was around sharks teeth whale bones etc. It's very dense, has a nice color to it and seems to have a spiral formation starting but it's hard to tell because it appears to be broken. This was found in Venice Florida. Thank you in advance.
