  1. Looking for guidelines, information, steps, the process....anything really concerning how to get provenance/the origin for a fossil. This fossil was found on my family's estate by my husband. He's a dedicated and passionate rock hound but not certified in the field. I can tell you everything about the location, the find, and the excavation. I can tell you lots of different information and even some research BUT just my word isn't cutting the mustard so to speak . Any guidance on how to do this is VERY much appreciated.

    equus caballus tooth?

Here's the second I purchased that day.
  3. Greetings all, I have found a third interesting keichousaurus. Compared to the other two I think this one looks better in my opinion. But as per usual I don’t have experience with keichousaurus so I would like some advice. Please let me know what you all think!
  4. Greetings all! I have found another Keichousaurus that looks very interesting. I do have some concerns about it, mostly the head looks almost drawn on (could just be me). Let me know what you all think!
  5. Hi all, For those who haven’t caught sight of my recent introduction to the forum, I’m Henry - Hello I’m seeking verification on a dromeosaur claw I’ve found for sale. It’s a pricey piece, although I believe the piece to be genuine it’s definitely worth a second opinion before dropping the coin!
  6. (Note: this was originally posted under fossil trips) Hey there! I'm sorry its been so long since I've posted on here but suffice it to say I need your help. I'm planning a six to seven day fossil hunting trip in Pennsylvania (sometime in mid august) and I need your help verifying that the sites I've picked to visit from Robert Beards guide Rock Hounding Pennsylvania are still accessible to collecting as well as coverable given my time frame. The places I'm looking at hunting are sites 27. Beltzville State Park (Outcrops on shoreline), 28. Lehighton, Lehigh Canal (Former borrow pit and outcrop),30. Deer Lake (Borrow Pit), 33. Suedberg (Outcrop in former borrow pit), 35. Centralia (Former strip mine outcrop), 38. Rockville (Former quarry), 48. Walker Lake (Hillside and unpaved road), 51. PPL Montour Preserve (Hillside, Former borrow pit), 57. Uniontown (Former quarry). Any insights as to whether or not theses sites are still accessible to collecting, weather our not you believe covering all these sites within 6 to 7 days is possible, and any other tips and tidbits of information on the sites, and or planning a large trip like this etc, would be greatly appreciated! When I go I'm planning to take notes and pictures and then, when i get back, write a few essays illustrated with pics that I will post on here! Thank you in advance, and thank you to Fossil-Hound for directing me on were to properly post this! Glenn aka Fossil123

  8. Hi, I'm new to The Fossil Forum. I've noticed surface features on dinosaur bone fossils that exist on species without regard to the scale, mineral makeup, or geophysical location of that item. Striations, bumps, curvatures, texture, etc. I was just wondering if there is a recommended application or graphics viewer which contains an algorithm which could be used to more easily identify and confirm various fossil discoveries? I started looking at DigiKam, but decided to ask here before going down a potentially immersive tangent. even outline of shape would seem beneficial to me at this point...thanks for your time.
