Recently I found a fossil on the beach of central Vietnam that on this forum has been identified as a turtle. Today we found one more fossil on the same beach that looks similar to the previous one. But I would like to ask you for confirmation. Is this a turtle or something else? Thank you for your help.

Hi everybody, I found this last Sunday on the beach in central Vietnam. It looks like fossilised bones with some skin on it. Does anybody know what this could be? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi everyone, Here is my newest found in my field trip. The formation is early Jurassic age. The ammonite around 20cm diameter. Do you have any idea about the ammonite species? Thank you!

Hi! I am a young collector from Vietnam. I bought this ammonite at Van Phuc antique market (Ha district, Hanoi). The seller told me it was found in the mountains of northern Vietnam. He says it is an opalized ammonite and has been processed. As a young collector, I don't know if it's an ammonite. If so, what kind of ammonite is it? How old is it? All your comments are highly appreciated. Thanks for your attention! (As a Vietnamese, I'm not very good at English, if there are any spelling mistakes in the article that make it difficult for you to understand, please ignore!)

Hello everyone! My friend just found this one on the river bank. I just look at the formation there that is from early Jurassic. But about this species they didn’t find before so it not on the fossil list. As I just think this is Psiloceras because it look very similar to that species in Uk. Do you have any idea about this fossil please help me! Thanks

Hello everyone! There is one local report this for me and send me those pictures. For me the picture is not good enough but I can not do any things better due to the covid situation in my country so imposible for me to go there and check. It look like bone in sandstone matrix and the island is dating from early Cretaceous. No report of dinosaur before in Vietnam so if it dinosaur, it could be a good news. This formation they have found petrified wood and amber. Near this island but from Cambodia, they just found a leg bone from the island of Koh Kong that belong to the Phuwiangosaurus since last April. So can you help me to have a look about it? Thank you

From the album: MY FOSSIL Collection - Dpaul7
Ductina vietnamica Trilobite Vietnam Eifelian and Pragian stages - Devonian Age 380 Million Years old. Trilobites are a fossil group of extinct marine arthropods that form the class Trilobita. Trilobites form one of the earliest known groups of arthropods. The first appearance of trilobites in the fossil record defines the base of the Atdabanian stage of the Early Cambrian period (521 million years ago). They were hard-shelled, segmented creatures that lived in Earth's ancient seas. They are considered to be one of our planet's earliest complex life-forms and are one of the key signature creatures of the Paleozoic Era. Trilobites went extinct before dinosaurs ever existed. Weight: 1.4 Ounces Dimensions: 1.8 Inches Long & 1.4 Inches Wide. Ductina was a rather successful phacopid, being recorded throughout most of the Devonian. They are small (examples range between 1/2 an inch to 1.2 inches), with a simple effaced pygidum and a cephalon lacking many features (such as tubercles) found in its fellow trilobites of the Family Phacopidae. Most noticeably, Ductina is blind. Blindness is a trend in several groups of trilobites, but was also present in the relatives of the well-known Eldredgeops. This secondary blindness has often been interpreted as relating to the environmental conditions that the benthic trilobites faced Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Arthropoda Class: †Trilobita Order: †Phacopida Family: †Phacopidae Genus: †Ductina Species: †vietnamica- 1 comment
