Hi everyone, went on a nice little expedition into West VA over thanksgiving break. tried my hand on checking out the rose hill formation in Waiteville. lovely time out with some beautiful scenery and farms. The sandstone was sparse fossil wise, but I did find three pieces with some interesting stuff to ponder. here are each of the three rocks, labeled Specimens A-C Specimen A looks like it has some simple fossil impression. on first inspection there's some nice Ostracods and a couple brachiopod impressions in the middle. but on closer inspection on the edges I noticed there is a possible mold of a trilobite pygidium. (Likely Calymene Cresapensis) ostracods and brachiopod impressions. Here are closeups of the trilobite impression. lastly here are a couple impressions that might be something. Specimen B Specimen B has the Faintest brachiopod impression (According to this book I read it looks like Cupulastrum Neglectum) there's a weird looking impression I have no idea what it is. other weird impressions on the side. Specimen C I think i found a hash plate of trilobite chunks here, although Im not familiar with the geology of this place so it could just be concretion. this piece also has a definite Trilobite in it on the side. Trilobite. I do not know which part of it this is, could be Pygidium or Thorax. Possible cephalon piece? Please let me know if I missed any ID's or am way off on my guesses here. as always, message if you want to see a different side/ angle of something.

Went on a little "Easter Egg Hunt" with my folks, found some excellent fossils. day was hot but I enjoyed it. I have provided my best ID, but please feel free to correct if you can identify it further! it helps with my labeling system for sure. this lizard was good luck right next to where my mom was standing i noticed this beauty sticking out of the rock further excavation revealed this possible horn coral? eldredgeops rana heads trilobite glabellar fold ( possibly Odontocephalus?) Dipleura rib impression (Very exciting to have found 3 species in one trip!) amonoid Cephalopod Agoniatites vaxunemi (note the preservation of the sutre lines). and here is a conularid i found as well Possible pelecypod? brachiopods and lastly a couple of crinoid buttons dug out of the rock

So I took my folks out to West VA to see the Lost river site, had a splendid time of it just picking through the shale, but I found some absolutely mysterious specimens that I could use some help in identifying. This one I had thought was a colonial organism, but it doesnt match the bryzoan or corals ive seen in the area This one I believe is a brachiopod of some sort, any idea the Genus? I picked up this rock and noticed that there was a glabella furrow of a trilobite species in it. I dont know what species it is, all I know is that its Not an Eldredgeops. lastly a gentleman said that this looked like a sand dollar, however I am not certain its not just a formation. oh and theres this thing, I think its the tippy tip of a cephalopod. but a crinoid stem is just as likely. let me know if theres anything to look out for.

Hi everyone! This is from Needmore formation close to Wardensville, WV site. I think I've found something similar one other time long ago but have no idea what it is. I had actually seen the impression side first, which I thought was the cast of a Phacops Rana eye but when I went searching for the source I found that not to be the case. (On an unrelated side note, I swear the universe has something against me finding a trilobite with both eyes...I'm salty about the fact that all but one of my best trilobites are missing one eye!!!!) Any help would be appreciated! And sorry, the toothbrush was the only thing I had for scale lol.

Does anyone recognize this ? I thought it might be a partial print of a cephalon with suture lines but don't see anything resembling this shape or pattern in any of the eldredgeops pics or illustrations I've seen. The opposing "Y"s appear to be symmetrical. Thanks.
