DNF posted a topic in Fossil IDHey all, this is another find from a creek in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The matrix is some more of that possible quartzite that produced a few trilobite fragments. I'm still trying to find a source so I can hopefully put a name to the formation. I'm wondering if it might be a sponge? It has a very curved shape to it, but I had a hard time getting photos that didn't make it look flat. It's about two inches long. Thanks for looking
WV Devonian Fossil ID
femmephysicist posted a topic in Fossil IDI found what I think is a fossil embedded in a rock. Because I do not have an HD camera, I posted in addition to my fossil a simple sketch of what I think are the most important features of the fossil. It was found in a creek in the eastern panhandle of WV, Devonian. It's about the size of the tip of my pinky finger, and shaped similarly, as well. Could someone help me ID this fossil/geological thing?

Wv Fossil Possibly
JJCOLLI posted a topic in Fossil IDRecently found this on a fishing excursion here in WV. Rock size was 4-5 ft across and was washed into stream by stream bank erosion. I'm new to finding fossils and curious of what this could be and if any local colleges would want this to study. Any and all help greatly appreciated! Go Mountaineers!!!
