Found almost fully submerged in the wet sand beneath the waves of Holden Beach. It was found within newly replenished sand from dredging that’s occurring currently a couple miles off the coast. Very heavy and dense(1.257kg), porous of course and it’s not perfectly symmetrical at any angle I view it from. I’d guess some whale bone but I know very little about fossils. There’s also tens of thousands of Hardouinia Mortonis (PeeDee Cretaceous) coming up through the dredge pipes if that helps in any way. Longest length ≈ 15cm Longest width ≈ 10cm Longest depth/height ≈ 8cm Narrowe

Out on the river yesterday frora beautiful day of hunting. Had several nice finds with two I was not sure of on the ID. I was able to eliminate one unknown today (modern cow) but the other still has me looking. When I first saw the below tooth in the sieve I thought it was a deer tine. Upon picking it up I saw the circular striations and beveled tip that led me to the conclusion it is a tooth. Well worn and polished to the extent that it is ready to be made into a piece of jewelry. A lot of searching has only led to the possibility of a whale or other cetacean as far as I can see. Opinio

Hi everyone! I just acquired some fossils from Florida and could use some help identifying these two vertebrae. The first I believe is thoracic and the second is an atlas, but I'm not sure what animal they're from. Cetacean was the first thing that came to mind but I all the pictures I've been finding are different looking especially the pictures of whale atlas vertebrae so I could really use another opinion.

Found my first big fossil while digging a driveway on my property in Paso. Looking forward to identifying it. Seems like a large piece of spine or whale tail. Any guidance would be helpful. Just starting construction, so I will be on the lookout for more fossils.

Hey, I was looking at this bone I found in Summerville, SC and I’m curious to know what the marks are, I know they’re probably not anything but I figured I’d ask so that I could just stop wondering! TIA!

Three finds from yesterday that I am hoping to get a bit of help on. The first is what I think is a bison metacarpel. Or is it Bos? Next up is what I believe to be a whale tooth: Last is what I first thought of as whale or dolphin, but it seems to have an extreme glossy and smooth finish. I then looked at a feline canine and thought this could also be a possible.

Got this on a hunt today. Mid. Miocene, Round Mountain Silt Member, Temblor Formation. California. It is 5cm long, 3.5cm wide, 2cm thick. I am presuming whale, but don't really know. It seems strange to me in that the channels that would carry nerves or blood vessels are going perpendicular to the way it would set in the spinal column. One of the channel openings looks to be partially fused off which may have pinched nerves or blocked off blood supply. Any thoughts as to where on the critter it belonged and if indeed it is whale or not?

I purchased this tooth on an auction site for very cheap and I'm wondering what it could be. It is from Calvert Cliffs,Maryland and its 3,5cm. Thats All the information I know... I have 2 guesses: whale or Pliosaur though I think it's more whale than Pliosaur because they are very rare... What do you think? Any clue or detail would help. Thanks
