    Found in my yard

I found this in my yard. There was once a railroad bed nearby. I find a ton of fossils near my home, but I have no idea if this is indeed something fossilized, something related to the railroad, or just a very strange rock. Thanks!

    Possible Fossilized Vertebrae?

Hi, we found these recently at Bog Brook Preserve (NJ) and wondered if they could be fossilized vertebrae or something else? I will admit that we are new and sometimes wonder if we are seeing things that aren't there! :-) Because we found these at a known fossil site and they have very interesting shapes...we wondered what they could be. Thanks for any help!

Possible rib bone or just a rock?

Found this while walking along North Beach in Seattle Washington at low tide, and it looks similar to dugong rib bones that I found in Florida before, but I'm not sure with this one.

    Topanga State Beach, California

I'm brand new here. My kids and I were at Topanga State Beach today and though we've been thousands of times before, this was the first time we found fossils! We found lots of rocks packed with small shell fossils, but then this one was much larger. The photos are all from the same one rock, different angles and sides. Any idea what it is (or maybe it's just a large shell)? Any idea how old it is?

    Is This A Crab Claw?

Does anyone know what this is? I am thinking, perhaps, it is a piece of a stone crab claw? Someone mentioned shark tooth. Found at Quintana Beach, Texas; Gulf of Mexico ocean, two days after two hurricanes hit landfall.
  13. Hello! I found this on the beach in Corolla North Carolina. The color and texture look a lot like fossilized sharks teeth I’ve found in the past, so I’m hoping it’s some sort of fossil and not just a bit of shell. It’s a little under 1/2inch long. I hope these pictures are clear enough, thank you for looking!
  14. Hi everyone! Hoping you can help me with a mystery. We've lived in our house for 5 years now, but with nothing else to do considering this pandemic, we've been exploring our front stone path a LOT more closely than we did before (especially considering 5 year old daughter's interest in fossils). We have noticed three trilobites (don't know how I missed these in the past - they are clear as daylight) and a couple other interesting things (maybe bryozoans, coral or echinoderms - I admit i can't tell them apart well). All of these new discoveries have me REALLY wondering now about something big that i have been wondering about for 5 years - the very last picture. I previously thought it was man-made - maybe result of some rebar or something, but now with these other discoveries, i'm really wondering. Anyone have any ideas for us? Thank you! We live in Northwest Indiana. That may or may not say anything at all about where the stone was sourced. I suspect it's limestone? But I really don't know for sure. We do have a giant quarry nearby (Thornton Quarry - fossil-rich limestone and on my bucket list to get a tour there one day). But really, this stone could be from anywhere. Lastly, each of these fossils (or mineralizations, or whatever they are) is in a different piece of stone. Anyway - here are the pictures - seven "fossils" and one of the path so you can see what we're dealing with. Thank you again!
  15. Hi everyone! My kids and I came across this while walking and looking at rocks on sunset beach in Cape May. Anyone have any idea what it is?

    Savannah River finds

Found two unusual rocks on the islands of the Savannah River in Georgia. I'm hoping at least the first is a fossil but I'd not be surprised if both were just dark rocks :-) Thoughts? Sorry for only 2 photos but this was what I could post under the 3.95MB limit. Thanks!

    Amateur hunter needs help!

Very much an amateur here. Recently some farmland in east Tulsa was scraped off for a new housing addition. I have found lots of crinoid stems and a few shells and trilobites. But I don’t know what this is that I found today. Can anyone help?

    Something or Nothing?

I found this whilst fossil hunting on the beach in Redcar UK. The unusual pattern on one side made me suspect that this could be a fossil of some kind but any help to identify it would be appreciated. Thanks Michael

    Interesting Find in California

Hello everyone, My girls and I were fossil hunting in Painted George in California and found this in a mind mound. Can anyone help identify. It is huge, weighs about 100 lbs and about 24 inches across
  23. I found this fossil washed up on the coast of Topsail Island, North Carolina. I've held onto it for a very long time and have not had it properly identified. I think it's belongs to a whale? If so, could someone perhaps tell me what kind and possibly how old? I'm fascinated by fossils and the history they hold. As a young kid I would pretend to be a paleontologist and would dig up my parents yard. Ha-ha. Still think it's funny how I actually did end up finding one. Thanks guys!
