  1. Hi everyone, first time poster. I found this rock at Blue Beach, Nova Scotia near the water line. At first I thought it was an organic specimen, like perhaps seaweed or roots growing on a rock, but on closer inspection it appears to be mineral. Ive never seen anything like this before. It looks a lot like petrified roots, but I figure thats unlikely. Does anyone know what this is? The last picture is from a magnifying app.
  2. I found this while sifting material from a known fossil brook in Monmouth County, New Jersey. I though it might be a tooth, but I am not sure. It is hollow and somewhat brittle. It was found in the brook. Thanks in advance for any help/ideas of what this could be!

    Any idea what this is?

Hi, we recently found this at Big Brook Preserve (NJ). Anyone know what this could be? It is comes to a point, solid like a rock and was in the bottom of a creek bed. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Weird black thing

I saw this little black thing on a crinoid plate, and I haven't been able to figure it out. It looks almost like a trilobite cheek or a cephalon or maybe even a crinoid calyx shard. Anyone know what it is?

    What is this?

Interesting find here that I haven't had any luck in identifying. Figured it had been a while since told I was suffering from an acute pareidolia attack or that everything is honeycombed this or that. I always thought that each time science advanced it was because someone refused to accept the current narrative. You'll don't know what you don't know and that keeps you from advancing the paleontology torch down the path. To that end, the last pic is for Dr. Honeycomb to see the update on the bone/armor piece.b So let's hear it.
  8. Hello, I am new to the forum. I found this on the beach in Delaware USA, last week and found a similar one in the past few years. I don’t have knowledge of fossils, but this looked like one to my inexperienced eye. Any help identifying what it is, is appreciated!

    mystery shark jaw

Hey there! I need some help identifying this shark jaw that I received as a gift a few years ago. All I know about it is that it came from Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Its about 23 centimeters in width and about 8 centimeters from the top of the mouth to the bottom, my apologies for how gritty the pictures are, my phone camera is not the best.

Black shale find - what is it?

Hello, I like busting open local black shale to see what is inside. This is from the Eastern Panhandle in West Virginia. That is a pen in the picture to give perspective as to the size. I am finding a lot of Brachiopods in the same shale (you can see some of it in the picture) I am very new to hunting fossils, any groups local to Washington DC area? Thank you for checking out my shale.
  11. Hi All, What could this mysterious and mesmerizing find be? Thanks team!

    What kind of fossil?

This is serendipitous, I've had this fossil from Haida Gwaii for 3 years and I just recently started looking into its origin, as in this week and now I stumble on this website and someone else just posted 17 minutes ago inquiring about an HG find. So I found this on the beach and also found one that looks like the one that Haida Gwaii Beach Finds was asking about. Any insight on species and approximate era would be much appreciated!

Hello, I am from Minnesota and on vacation in Florida, and I found these things on the ground. What are they? (Sorry if these are not even fossils and just a common rock or something)

    Is this a shark tooth?

I found this on the east coast of Florida while walking on the beach, Is this part of a shark tooth?
  15. Hi guys! I saw this specimen and I thought it looked epic. I also thought, is it real? The owner is from Germany and can’t tell me what it is and the matrix has an interesting finish and a wooden back. Some red flags here but what are our thoughts? any advice would be great thanks.
