Smoky Hill Chalk, Kansas ID Help

Today I came across a flat of Cretaceous Niobrara Formation / Smoky Hill Chalk- Kansas fish fossils, from a couple years ago. I was hoping that @Xiphactinus or other members might be able to help with and / or correct son ID's that I made on the following specimens. Any help would be appreciated. Xiphactinus audax Vert. Enchodus Tooth Saurodon leanus Jaw Sections Cimolichthys Jaw Sections Unknown Jaw Section Unknown Tail / Fin Pieces Unknown Fish Vert.

    Texas Cretaceous Fish

Found this fish tail yesterday, and was wondering if there is enough here for an ID? Thanks

    Xiphactinus Vert

  8. It was my first time hunting in awhile due to my crazy work schedule. Since we haven't had a good rain I figured it would be picked over. I found some really nice Mosasaur verts, coprolite and my best Clidastes jaw section yet with multiple replacement teeth showing. The fish vert is from one of the large Cretaceous fish probably Xiphactinus. The artifacts, Gastropods, Enchodus tooth, Mastodon tooth enamel and other Pleistocene tooth were a nice bonus. You can see little bones in all the coprolite. I will hit it again next week for sure.
  9. Could someone assist in determining if these two items are an Enchodus or Xiphactinus? I found the larger one this past Saturday and the smaller one a few weeks ago, same general area at GreensMill Run in Greenville NC. Found these among whale bone, great white, tiger and crow shark teeth and a couple sharks of likely mastadon tooth - obviously a nice mix from a huge time span. I assumed enchodus until a friend mentioned the Xiphactinus, which I didn't even know was an option yet, so I would also appreciate detail on how I can discern between the two in the future - characteristics etc. 1. 2. and I also have several of these, ranging in size/condition some with enamel etc - this one as I'm taking photos I realized the tooth part of it might not actually be what I was thinking for this one, but the rest have the more rounded tooth, anyhow, are these jaw pieces with broken teeth like those above to be identified?

    NSR Last Saturday

Haven't posted a trip here in a while, but have had some good ones. These are some of the finds from Saturday. My son and I combined for some nice pieces.

    3-9-17 Great NSR Trip

I took a long 8 - 10 mile hike at NSR. The weather was beautiful and wildlife abundant. I saw hogs, deer, beaver, hawks, ducks and geese among others. I picked up a nice variety of fossils. I really like the Xiphactinus jaw with replacement tooth showing. I sat down to take a break and found 4 shark teeth in one area. The little fossilized turtle scute is also cool.

    Killer NSR Texas Hunt

8 mile NSR hike trying to get past all the footprints. I had a great day. I found a nice variety of Pleistocene and Cretaceous fossils and all kinds of artifacts. I really like the partial Mosasaur / Pleisosaur scapula with shark feeding marks. The Mastodon tooth enamel has some great color. The Ammonite septum that size is pretty rare for NSR. 2 Mosasaur teeth in one day always makes my day.

  17. I had a fun hunt today at NSR. I found a nice variety of fossils. My buddy made a friend with a small wild boar. We hiked 4 miles all together. Here's some pics of my finds. Mosasaur jaw section, Xiphactinus jaw section, Enchodus jaws and teeth, Shark teeth, Fish verts, Mosasaur tooth and verts, Tylosaur jaw fragment, Mystery bone and Old marble. The Mosasaur tooth was my first find of the day.
  18. Here are a few more pieces from my collection. This is the desk in my office. Running out of room to work. 3 Species of Bison. Priscus, Occidentalis, and smaller Latifrons. Red Stag (Cervus elaphus) xiphactinus skull Also a few other random pieces.
  19. Hi! Since we wind up at the North Sulphur River every week or two, I thought I'd consolidate postings into a single post. July 4th - VERTEBRAE DAY Although I love hunting with my two sons (age 8 and 9), I always have better finds when I go out by myself. Don't know if it's better concentration or just that without the Daddy Role I stay longer than I should. Anyway, my July 4th trip yielded the items below. I'll pull a couple of the items for better pics and scales as time permits. There's a set of about a dozen dark gray vertebrae (smaller with rounded ends - pleisiosaur?) pulling out about a 1/3 in from the southern bank and stretched out over a 1/2 mile. I found several this trip, some on earlier trips, and know a couple that found a couple in the same locale while we hunted downstream. I've got a couple of puzzlers I'll note below and put better pics asap. thanks for checking it out! (oh yeah, parden the very excited Lego character peeking through the drying towel. I took quick pics when I got back rather than on our copy stand and once I saw his enthusiasm, I had to keep him in!) M
  20. I had a good day fossil hunting at the North Sulphur River Texas. I found a nice variety of Xiphactinus, Mosasaur, Plesiosaur, Shark, Mastodon, Rudists, Ammonite, and Coprolite full of bones.
