Oxytropidoceras posted a topic in Fossil News
The below paper is an interesting reinterpretation of the depositional environment of the Birket Qarun Formation of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wadi Al-Hitan, also known as either Valley of Whales or Zeuglodon Valley, in the Western Desert of Egypt. The paper is: Gee, C.T., Sander, P.M., Peters, S.E., El-Hennawy, M.T., Antar, M.S.M., Zalmout, I.S. and Gingerich, P.D., Fossil burrow assemblage, not mangrove roots: reinterpretation of the main whale-bearing layer in the late Eocene of Wadi Al-Hitan, Egypt. Does anyone know how large basilosaurus canines can get? I don't know if they're all technically canine teeth, but I'm referring to the 4 to 5 single-point front teeth. Crown & root together.
