Hey guys. Thought this was suspect enough to post up. Fossil or just rock? Area is a fossil-rich creek bottom draining a diverse area ranging from Miocene to Jurassic, California SF East Bay area. Thanks in advance. RCD

I recently saw a real or fake article about a giant whale vert with a big megalodon tooth sticking out of it, and although it was fake (due to the fact that neither was damaged and the force of a tooth that far embedded in the vert would have shattered or seriously damaged at least one of them) it inspired me. After an unsuccessful attempt to get a big whale vert, I decided to improvise. I had a chunk of a vert lying around, and lots of little megs with complete roots but blades broken off half way down the tooth. I decided to put them both to use, and with the aid of some paleobond fossil putty, here is how it turned out:

Hey everyone! I haven't posted on the forum for quite a while, but here is my latest trip to a river/creek site somewhere in NC. The video pretty much tells the site for its self. Not any Megalodon teeth this time, but maybe next time! Thank you for watching .

Hello All, Maybe this is the wrong website to ask this but I am struggling to find anywhere else to ask so here goes. I found a whale vertebrae in Iceland last May and would love to find out its species etc. See the photo attached. Its diameter measures 330mm. Thanks for your help in advance.

There are so many amazing pictures on this site, I almost don't dare to share. This is by far our best find. We were hunting in the Peace River, Fl area about a year ago. We were digging in what we consider fairly deep water (4-5 feet). Shrek could feel a large piece of something, quite stuck under his feet. There is NO visibility when the water is that deep, there is too much tannin in the water. He kept trying to dislodge it with his foot, but it wouldn't come loose. Eventually he went after it with his hands. He said he knew it wasn't a large rock as soon as he touched it. When you have a find like that, the pull of the river gets as bad as a drug habit....we can't stop. My father is custom making me a display cabinet. I can't wait to show pictures. My tape measure didn't show up too well, but it is exactly 6" tall, and 6" across at its widest point.

Found this whale bone in Fort Bragg, CA . Two questions 1) Is it a Fossil? 2) Can you legally sell whale bones in the US?
