Hello everyone, I saw this specimen for sale as a new species from the Vallecillo quarries. I haven’t seen something like this from this formation. Does anyone have any idea of what species might this be? The size of fossil is approximately 40 cms long. The size of the matrix is 63 cms * 43 cms. The pictures were not taken by me. Thanks everyone.
Hello, I recently acquired some fossils from the Vallecillo member of the Agua Nueva formation. The Agua Nueva Lagerstätten is famous for its perfectly preserved fish and marine reptiles. It is late cenomanian in age about 90-93 million years old. I got two large ammonites from one of my trips to Mexico. I was wondering if someone can identify it to the family, and possibly the genus level. They are preserved in a finely bedded shale. This one one is the largest one it is about 8 inches long.
Hi there! Last May I got a fossil fish and just recently got it prepared, but I’m not sure about the species. I have some ideas but better appeal to the very vast knowledge of TFF members. It is a very beautiful specimen with a lot of detail, with a lot of scales, which is not very common in specimens from this location. It was found in a quarry in Vallecillo, México. Late Cretaceous. The complete length is roughly 96 cms.
