First two photos are of the same fossil. When I picked it up and put in in my bucket I was thinking it was a squished horn corals stuck together. As I cleaned it I came to realize that it's not horn coral. The third photo has the same sort of outer crust a with a hole in it. I've been searching with the photo matching devices. Nothing comes up similar for Devonian period. Then I searched to see if I could match it to Fossilized feces. No matching as I could not match it to anything with that category. Could the second one be fossilzed bone? Any ideas of where I could investigate further? Thank you for viewing and trying to help.

I found this fossil in Alpena, Michigan, in the USA. It looks like a colonial rugose coral to me, but I’m not sure of the genus or species. It would have to be Devonian or Silurian, and native to Michigan. Does anybody know what this is? Also, is it a petrified or cast fossil? I attached four photos below.

So, I was supposed to leave for the army and I tore a ligament in my knee. I took time off work and am now able to hobble around the shop. Feeling kinda down I went to alpena on Saturday hoping the rain would let up and what do ya know! It was sunny and cold by 10am. Here is a couple pics of my finds. I'll post more later!

I think the first post I made here was about Partridge Point. I'm still not a fossil expert, but I thought this video I made might be useful for someone thinking about visiting this spot. It gives a good idea of the types of fossils that you can find. Maybe someone can help me identify a couple things I wasn't sure about.

I found this fossil in the Black River, Alcona County, MI. I have no idea what it is. The zigzag parts seem to go all the way through. It’s probably Devonian because most rocks in the area are.

I found this in Black River, Alcona County Michigan and I’m not sure whether it’s a trilobite or some type of clam. The rock in the area is primarily Devonian.

I live in Alpena, Michigan. I’ve read and heard that there is or was petrified wood in the water around Sulphur Island and in nearby Squaw Bay. I heard that around the Island, you used to be able to find whole logs of what I think was palm wood. I haven’t been able to find any, but I don’t really know what to look for except I heard that it is black. Does anyone have a picture of pet. wood from here?
