Popular movie makers decided that the real life of one of the most important paleontologists ever, Mary Anning, was not interesting enough when they created the movie, Ammonite, to be released in September in Cannes, France. The makers decided that they could spice things up by turning the movie into a fictional romance. I kind of wish that PBS or the BBC could have made it instead. Be careful when learning history with something made by popular movie makers.
EDIT: My gosh. I see that the BBC did help to produce this movie partially shot on location in Lyme. Hopefully this semi fictionalized account will do Mary justice.
