KyCollector posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil FabricationsHi there! I’m very new to the forum. I’ve recently been collecting various specimens - crinoids, fish, brittle starfish, trilobites, etc. I’ve come across the attached Cordulagomphus. The seller has said he/she purchased the fossil from a shop in Tucson, Arizona in the past and that it was found in Brazil, but I’m almost scared it’s a bit too good to be true, and I don’t want to get burned after paying the price. Can anyone take a look and tell me what they think? I really appreciate it!
Thoughts on this jaw section of a Edmontosaurus. Has there been any restoration? Authentic? These are the only pictures sent to me. He is asking a pretty penny debating on if it would be a good addition for my collection. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks again guys
Sorry for the big picture, i couldn´t help it, as i didn´t want to post it to my gallery as i don´t own it (yet). My question is, does this look authentic? It is sold as one of those Saltasaurus eggshells from Argentine that´s slowly getting more rare (as fossil export from Argentina is illegal nowadays), and it´s up on a swedish auction site (i live in Sweden) and is currently really cheap as it is 3 days left of the auction, and its a nice piece which got me interested, however, could it be fake? It has an unusual colour of a shell from this location (yellowish brown), but it still got the small "blobs" that you should look for in eggshells, and i see no point in faking a small eggshell, which brings me to the question, is it fake, or is it a great chance?
