Keichousaurus ... Real ? Enhanced?
Wayne Lewis posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Curious to read opinions on this. Looks interesting, want to think it is authentic, from the underside (?) though the neck vertebrae seem twisted and the head seems off, perhaps shaped and painted.- 6 replies

Is this a real fossil? And if it is how much repairing/work has been done to it if any? (It's a Hyphalosaurus, sorry about the image quality, I couldn't get any better.)

Hi, please stare at this trilobite that I just snagged and tell me if you would agree with me that it's real, or if you think it's fake. If the latter, I would appreciate your reasons. Edit: pictures posted properly. Also I ask because I'm still very new at collecting.

I don't have a clue... Please help!
Clueless6 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I want to get my brother a great gift, he's amazing. He loves everything dinosaur and has a huge interest in fossils. He has a very small collection, but nothing like what I'm looking at. I've seen a couple of nice looking Megalodon teeth fossils online, but I don't know if they're authentic, if they've been repaired, or if I'm going to end up burning a hole in my pocket for something that's not worth the price. The first photos are for one that is 3.8 inches. The second is 4.4 inches. Thanks in advance!- 10 replies

Authentication of Australian Crinoid Fossil (Jimbacrinus Bostocki)
Peter Stahlberg posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello! I'm new to fossil collecting (as well as this forum) and have bought my first fossil today. Being completely inexperienced, I thought I'd try asking folks on this forum whether the fossil I bout is authentic. I am somewhat skeptical of this crinoid fossil's authenticity given how well the crinoids themselves seem to be preserved in the substrate. They almost look like they're made out of potting clay and are very crisp. Could anyone with experience give their input? This fossil was a significant investment so I'd like to at least know I got what I paid for! Thanks in advance.- 3 replies
