Absolutely love that feeling of never knowing what you are about to uncover. No words can explain that moment when you catch that first glimpse at a present that's been waiting for you for millions of years!! I'm 5 years old all over again, lol. The icing on the cake is when your kids catch the same feeling and you see the excitement in their eyes when they see that. Ever elusive gem (fossil) lying before them!! Got to love it! < ; ^ ><

I've been a rock hunter for awhile I lack knowledge fossils I'm really interested in these fossils specifically they're really neat I have quite a few more as well but this is a good start

I just wanted to publicly thank one of our members that recently sent me a fossil package to cheer me up in the hospital. Back in April I had a car accident and broke my left ankle which has been surgically repaired, broke my left arm also surgically-repaired, and 5 ribs. I don't like calling out people positively or negatively without their permission so I will leave it up to remember to identify or not identify themselves. I just wanted to say how awesome it is to be part of a community where members become friends and members do things like that for other members. Thank you it really helped me get through a rough week last week. I would post pictures of the fossils but it would surely give the member away.

Seventy-two million years ago, the place I live was underwater where sharks and all marine life swam. A shark shed its teeth frequently in its lifetime. No wonder the most of the fossils we found are shark teeth. The biggest one we found is approximately 2 inches long. The smallest is 1/10 of its size, both shiny and perfect. On our first trip, we met two ladies coming out of the trail. She frequents to the site weekly along with her sister. Her face lightened up when she showed us the "treasures" she found stored in a small Mentos mint box. " You will enjoy it. It's like only you and nature," she said as she directed us in the direction of the stream. The water splashes and hops over the rock, dense forest blocks the noise from the occasional passing cars, a man running with his barking dog breaks the serenity for a few seconds. But the rest of time, you are truly with nature only. You are with nature which connects you and the creatures that existed 72 million years ago swimming right where you are standing. My 2 favorite finds of the day. A colonial pipe fragment and a TINY, FLAWLESS, and SHINY shark tooth.

This is the first fossil I ever found. I found it when I was 10 years old. It was at a construction site on the southwest side of Milwaukee. They were digging the basements for a few houses next to ours. I believe this Trilobite is sitting on her nest. I have been fossil hunting ever since. I have lot's of fossil's however I think this one is the best of the bunch. I also hunt for Native American artifacts, Points, Gems, Minerals and anything else i can find in or on the ground. I operate Heavy Equipment as part of my career so I get to do a lot of digging, so I get lucky every now and then.
