These fossils are from a 2016 trip to Oakes Quarry Fossil Park in Fairborn, Ohio. I had some large chunks of matrix in a 5-gallon bucket that I needed to go all @Nimravis on with the rock hammer to find any hidden gems and free up some space for incoming "farm-fresh" collections. I am not very fond of the Brassfield Limestone because it is dolomitized, and prep is difficult if not impossible. Basically what you see on a rock surface or newly exposed bedding plane is what you get. The matrix is sticky, and the fossils are not particularly well preserved (at least the fine surface details, anyway). But fossils are fossils and fossil assemblages are desirable to document nonetheless. Moreover, my Silurian collections are relatively sparce. First up are the stromatoporoids (the primary reason I made the trip). These are the first I have ever collected, and I grabbed everything I *thought* might be a stromatoporoid. These don't have the pores and other details on the surface like many others. Below is what I am thinking are stromatoporoids. To verify, I cut and polished some and examined sections under the scope:
