Hello all, my name is Jonah. For Spring break I am going to be near Venice, Florida for a little over a week. I'm posting this to see if anyone would like to hunt fossils in the Arcadia area, or Venice/Caspersan. I have experience in the Peace River and diving Venice. If anyone would like to perhaps join or trade information please pm me. I may be stopping in the panhandle to visit an old friend and hunt there as well. So I'll be equipped with gear for both consolidated and non materials. Perhaps meeting a stranger to share a mutual interest is strange, but heck the hard part was convincing my girlfriend, so here goes Here is where my girlfriend and I will be staying, however we will be traveling over to the Peace River in multiple localities. I also brought a two man dingy for some extra mileage in the river. I also have two shovels not pictured. Some small finds from both Arcadia and Sarasota.

Hello all! I have not been hunting for Fossils in a very long time. I am looking for the best places to go, even guide recommendations. I know you can go to the beaches, I have done this before yielding very little finds. I have had better luck diving for fossils off the coast. I live in Tampa Bay and I am willing to drive. I know you can go to Peace river, but not sure where to launch a kayak from. I have heard of the Bone Farm and I am seriously considering scheduling a half day hunt! Any help pointing me in the right direction is helpful! Thanks!

Greetings from Central Florida, friends. I found this piece today and I assumed it was bone because I find so many smaller, similar looking pieces of bone at this spot. On closer examination, one side seems to be cut pretty neatly. Can anyone positively identify this as bone or wood? If wood, is it palm? Thanks for reading!

Howdy all. First post but long time lurker. Need a little help with an ID. The fossil was found in Central Florida while sifting for shark teeth. The river has exposures from the Miocene epoch, at times I think older, and have found all manners of shark teeth with occasional mammal and reptile fossils showing up (deer teeth, snake ribs, alligator teeth and others). However, this little sucker stumps me. A small part of me believes it is a type of coral, but I am literally lost on where to begin with its identification. For orientation I call the "bumpy" side the top and the "ring" side the bottom. If more photos or details are need please ask. Thank you all in advance. Top (Bumpy): Bottom (Rings):

Going on a 3 day canoeing/camping trip this weekend with my 3 boys. Was curious if anyone had any luck with Sharks teeth and or any other type fossils on the Withlacoochee river. The area we're putting in at is in Sumter county and heading north. Obviously since the river flows north. :-) Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone is in the central Florida area and would like to get together on a trip please let me know. Thanks for the read.

Im still new at fossil hunting. Been looking at a few rivers small creeks here in Volusia county. I have also been searching the web. Still nothing comes up with hunting fossils and minerals in east central Florida. Volusia, Seminole, Brevard, Orange counties. You would think the st johns river areas would be a good place to search. If you guys know of any information that would be great?

Good afternoon, We are new and learning so much about searching for fossils, primarily shark teeth. My husband, Luis and I, Valerie, are eager to become more involved. I only started this past August on the beaches of Manasota key. I want so much to do this every weekend, but driving 3-4 hours is not always feasible and we wish we could find areas closer to home. I keep searching for historical geological maps too in hopes that we may find a nearby source. We have since joined a local club hoping to learn more and have applied for our fossil license too. Any links we can read up on and any information would be great! I know many prefer to keep the "SPOTS" private, however a general direction would be nice.
