  1. As the title states: Let's see your rarest specimen! Please feel free to share why it's rare.. i.e., is it rare in that locality? Is it rare in association with other specimens? Or is it just plain impossible to find? Looking forward to my socks getting knocked off 😀
  2. Hello this is going to be a topic where I share my recent buys, finds, and collection. Hope you enjoy! -Daniel I'll start it off with my most recent purchase of Gompothere teeth. - Sinomastodon sp. -Gansu, China -Miocene

    A Fossil A Day.....

A Fossil A Day....keeps the blues away! Or something like that... I started an Instragram account (jamielynnfossilquest) and am posting a fossil a day, so I figured I should do that on here, to REAL fossil enthusiasts! I'm a few days behind, so I will start out with a few more than one a day but then it will settle down to One Fossil (but I will admit, I'll probably miss a few days, but I'll double up or whatever.) I'll start with Texas Pennsylvanian era, but will branch out to other locations and time periods, so expect a little of everything! So enjoy A Fossil A Day! Texas Pennsylvanian Fossils: Nautiloid Agathiceras ciscoense Brachiopod Neochonetes acanthophorus Trilobite Ditomopyge sp. Gastropod Straparollus sp. Bivalve Astartella vera Cephalopod Brachycycloceras sp, Brachiopod Cleiothyridina orbicularis
  4. I have decided to start a thread showing pieces from my collection. I usually post in the "mailbox score" thread, but have found that my additions get lost in the volume of postings in the thread. So my collection will be in my own thread.
  5. After some negotiations will my girlfriend she accepted that my fossil collection would be a nice addition to our living room. Finally I think that I am in a point I can share the progress. Now I just have to keep buying fossils for the empty cabinets. I didn't discard any fossils even if some are composites/low quality from when I started collecting as it has sentimental meaning.

    Louisiana finds collection

These aren't my only finds but these are the "big" rocks that I have. I've found a lot of pet wood (no palm sadly) and a lot of agate (which ain't a fossil!) down here which is always a treat to find. Anyways here is the first picture of my collection, showing the overview.
  7. I do not know where is the right place to post, so I decided to do it at General discussion Read something about a "crazy" stone-collector from italy, we fossil enthusiasts are not alone... No stone left unturned in Italian artist’s workshop | GMA News Online (gmanetwork.com)
  8. Some of the nicer fossils from Morocco that I own. Let's start! - Set of nice spinosaurus teeth. Found in the same tunnel and layer. Only some meters away from eachother. 11 and 10.8 centimeter KemKem group, Morocco - Hainosaurus Boubker jaw pieces (dentary + snout) associated from an adult specimen. Really rare. Sidi Chennane, Oued Zem Morocco - Huge 10.6 centimeter carcharodontosaur crown with neat orane/brown like colors. KemKem group, Morocco - Set of 35 associated Otodus Obliquus teeth. Biggest one measures 8CM. Took a while to find one. El Khourigba, Morocco

  10. Or the tiny stuff I cant use to lift lol. Anyways first we have a nice big honeycomb coral, very sparkly, not sure why its like that.
  11. Hello to everyone! I'm new here, but I really love this forum! It has really great vibes and you instantly can tell that this is a good and friendly community! My English is not good,I hope everyone can be more tolerant. I am Polybranchiaspidida, I live in China. So I many of my fossils are from China. In this topic I will show my collection of fossils(and maybe some other interesting things)
  12. Hi everyone, Thought I'd take a minute to share. So, here's a Trilobite that I purchased about 20 yrs ago. Unfortunately, I lost the details of origin, etc...🙄 Measures about 2.5 " long. I named him Ernie 😄
  13. Hello everyone! Especially the experienced trilobite collector I need some reccomendations for my trilobite collection, kinda like what trilobite i should get and some demanding trilobite i should know and have in my collection.
  14. New here, love fossils. My collection in attached images. Coral and others I can not identify. Beautiful pieces.
  15. Best of my ammonites 2.0 reloaded. I decided to redo “ best of my ammonite” thread because my old thread is a little outdated. I have given so many of my ammonites away to friends that it seamed strange been called my collection . Also I have found some new , older finds and gifted ammonites that I have never shown before so it should be entertaining. I hope you don’t mind seeing a few duplicates in the next weeks post. I will post 3 specimens now and a couple of more every week. My dyslexia is very time consuming so this thread will keep me busy to Christmas and beyond. Thanks for looking Bobby Promicroceras British Lower Lias, Lower Jurassic Ammonite Cluster "Marston Marble" from Marston Magna, Somerset, England. U.K. Pleuroceras salebrosum? Cleeve Hill Not a bad Ammonite from a rare location. Cleeve is the highest point both of the Cotswolds hill range and of the county of Gloucestershire. U.K. A cool piece A Gyrosteus fish bone and a small Dactylioceras from Sandsend Whitby U.K.
  16. I have a lofty goal to collect at least one species of every brachiopod found in the USA that I can possibly obtain. I recently started a spreadsheet to itemize my collection. Spread sheet is attached. I will also periodically add photos. So far I've added: Cambrian, Silurian, Devonian, Permian, Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous, Paleocene, Eocene, and Pliocene Brachiopods of the USA.xlsx
  17. Hello to everybody! I'm kinda new here, but before I start I must say I really love this forum! It has really great vibes and you instantly can tell that this is a good and friendly community! So, I am ziggycardon, I live in Belgium, close to the border of the Netherlands and when we start speaking geologically, I live on the same cretaceous sediments as where the first major Mosasaurus discoveries where done! Unfortunatly I have never been on a fossil hunt myself and everything currently in my collection was bought or given to me. But I hope to change that soon, as I am dying to go hunting myself. Maybe the Chalk sediments 3 km from my home would be a good place to start! For the rest, my job, my major hobby and my other main interest besides fossils are living animals. I currently work as the head of terrarium & aquarium in 3 different pet stores and I have quite a collection of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and tropic fish myself. In my spare time I often take my own living animals along with my fossils and other educational natural history material to schools so I can teach kids about nature and it's history and hidden mechanics. For the rest are my other hobbies mainly based around movies and televisions as I collect a lot of stuff drom my favorite franchises like "Lord or the Rings" & "The Hobbit", "Game of Thrones, "Pirates of the Caribbean", ... And I also attent a lot of comic cons and other events related to those franchises. But then this topic! In this topic I will show my collection of fossils (and also minerals, stones and meteorites) as it is right now and then I will highlight each group of fossils bit by bit. I am currently starting with a own specialized fossil room, so ofcourse the progress and end result will also be posted here! And ofcourse when something get's added to my collection, I'll show it here as well. Sometimes a photo of my "special" pets or taxidermy specimens might pop up, but this topic will mainly be about the fossil room and my fossil collection. For the rest, if you have any comments or questions about the collection or about me or about anything, feel free to ask! I'd love to reply!

  19. I was invited to set up an educational booth at the Cranbrook Rock & Lapidary Club's Mineral, Fossil & Gem Show in October. It was a huge hit with the local collectors and members of the public. I was able to chat with a diversity of people ranging from families to fanatics and even some familiar faces from social media swung by to say hi. I am excited for the next event and will definitely be spending more time in Cranbrook. Such a welcoming community of fossil hunters and great number of Cambrian sites. Here are some photos of my table display. I wanted to spice things up and add fossils from around the world for this event as well as feature some of my current work.
  20. Here by I want you to share my fossil dinosaur collection and keep updating it! So lets start off by showing my recently aquired Spinosaurus indet. tooth from the KemKem Basin, Taouz Morocco. It measures 4'51 inches. Really like the colors and detailed preservation. With serrations still visible.

    My Collection

Hi everyone on Fossil Forum, I am pretty new to fossil collection but I have decided to post what I have currently collected and will continue to update this page with new fossils that I acquire over time. I am now looking to acquire rarer teeth now! Details of Specimen: Triceratops Tooth Hell Creek Formation, Carter County, Montana Late Cretaceous Period (65 Million Years Old) Measurements: 1.5 inches long x 3/4 inch wide x5/8 inch thick Weight: 8.9 Grams No restoration at all. all natural specimen. I love the way this looks and its huge!
  22. Just for fun thoughts. What fossils you would consider to be iconic fossils? Something that should belong in every collection? Some gems from everyones wishlist? One that picture should be in dictionary? Museum piece that you would specificly go to look or something that first pops to your mind when you think about fossils?

    Great weekend in Glen Rose

I went to my first show in Glen Rose over the weekend. I met some great people and had a good time! I managed to only buy 2 fossils….LOL! I sold everything I didn’t want to keep from my entry year to collecting halfway through the show, which amounted to a lot..I will miss some of the big eopachydiscus (19 incher was sold) but I have bigger ones I kept at home..also sold one of my nice oxytropidoceras but have 3 big ones at home. I’m ready to replenish my empty bedroom with new fossils! I was also really proud to see how well Mercer Brugler cleaned up the mortoniceras he got from me that I originally found this summer, if you saw them when I gave them to him you wouldn’t recognize the fossils..very motivating to learn how to clean them like he does.
