I don't think I posted Larry yet, but here he is! Meet Larry the Lobster! He didn't look much like a crab. He looked more like the Lobster from sponge bob. The lobster was buff and this one looks pretty buff to me!

I found this in Little River, South Carolina. I'm trying to decide if it's just a very odd corner of a shell or if it's a crab claw or something else entirely. I've found similar looking crab claws in the past but this just looks different. Doesn't look like it has layering like a shell usually has. It's hollow inside and it's about an inch long. Phone camera isnt that great. Took the best pics I could get.

I know that the first crab claw shown is fossilized the center has become stone and the edges where it was broken grey and black, but the second set of pictures I will post is of a claw that leaves me not so sure! It is hard as rock no doubt but the center is hollow and the edges more white which leads me to doubt. Opinions are welcome!

Some fossils I found yesterday at the Purisma Formation near Capitola, Ca. I did not collect them at the main cliff outcrop of Capitola Beach, but at a smaller outcrop a little north. Pictures include articulated crab arm, articulated crab legs, a marine mammal vertebrae, carcharodon carcharias? tooth, miscellaneous crab pieces, and a crab carapace covered in a thin concretion.
