Found this in a creek bed, middle devonian, near King Ferry, NY. Was wondering what it could be? It makes a circle. Looks to be a little chert also. Thanks Greg

    Squalodon Tooth

This is one of the teeth that I found recently in a creek bed in Summerville. It was not in a geological formation but The Chandler Bridge Formation is very close. My limited knowledge leads me to think this is a squalodon tooth. Any one have any thoughts? Thanks for your help in identifying this tooth.

    Coprolite?

Any ideas on what this is? It was whole but cracked, all I had to do was to pick it up of the rock it was sitting on. Unfortunately, I either missed a section or dropped it.

I just figure out what this is!

Could someone help me figure out what this is. It was found sifting a creek in North East Mississippi . It's a bit small and one of the pictures have a tape measure next to it. All four pictures are of the same rock, just different angles. Any thoughts would be great! Thanks in advance, Joe

    New member, new find.

Some family members have found what looks like some sort of dinosaur skin fossils. If anyone knows for sure that it is dinosaur skin please let me know. Also, if it is, let me know what dinosaur would it have been from. Found in a creek bed in northern Alabama.

    Bear jaw?

Found these jaws today in a creek in Kansas. Found around bison and elk parts. I'm guessing and hoping bear, but could be more recent. What do the mammal experts on here think?

    Mastodon tooth find

My son and I discovered this a few weeks ago while metal detecting. Didn’t realize what it was at first but knew it was something important
  12. Would greatly appreciate any help in identifying the approximate age of this horse tooth. It was found on Coleto Creek in Goliad County Texas. In the Coastal Bend of Texas. Was just laying in an area where there is not normally water except when the creek floods. Also was hoping to find the scientific name of the horse. Thanks for any help someone could provide !

    Mineral or fossil?

Found this on a gravel bar just below boundary to Permian but not sure about source. I had some trouble getting focused photo of edges. I'm thinking possibly algae.

    The Blob!

I found this in creek below Permian/Carboniferous boundary. I've not seen anything like it before and was wondering if it might be an algae.

    Possible jawbone?

Can anyone help me with this one? Could it possibly be a jawbone? The closest match I could find from pictures is a baby Mastodon. The top view shows what could be teeth? Also, the close up appears to be possible bone texture? As always, thanks for your help!
  17. I’ve stumbled across similar pieces of limestone throughout the years, but never have been able to figure out what they are. This piece of whatever it is is by far the largest and I honestly don’t have a clue as to what it is. This and similar finds only ever seem to have grooves or striations around the edges and nothing regular (at least to my perception) on the top or bottom which leads me to think they are probably of a geological origin, but I have never come across anything that matches these oddities... As stated in the tags I found this in a creek (near Auburn, Nebraska) which I know c

    Bovid phalanx

Just found this in the same little creek in southeast Nebraska that I've found stuff before. I believe it is a bovid phalanx, but I'm not very good at mamal IDs. Can anyone confirm or deny? It's dementions are approximately 1"X1.75"x1.5".

    Vertebrae?

My brother found this in a creek and the porous texture and divot on one end would seem to point towards a vertebrae of some kind, but I've never found anything like it before. Anyone know what it is/how I could tell for sure if it is a vertebra, or just some kind of coral or cephalopod...

    Mystery mammal bone

This definitely isn't completely fossilized (maybe not even at all smelled bad when I did flame test) but I figured someone on here would be able to help me figure out what is is. I found it on a sandbar in a creek here in southeast Nebraska. My initial thought was cow or bison femur, but I can't match it with any bones on the web that I've found. It is 14 inches long and is massive and heavy.
