Hello fellow forum members, some time ago I acquired what I thought of as a theropod ilium from the kem kem . it just crossed my mind that it could be another kind of archosaur alltogether, maybe a crocodylomorph? What do you think? At the moment i can not take more pictures of it easily, but maybe one is enough? Thanks and regards, J

we have a hugh collection of vertebrate-fossils, many of them come from the KemKem-Beds in Morocco. One of this cenomanian remains is a bit strange and other than all the others. Reminds a bit to a croc, a bit to a Pliosaur. But, never seen a similar one... what do you think? Lenght is approx. 7 cm, no restaurations

Hello everyone! Can anyone please help me with the identification of these crocodile teeth? All come from Kem Kem (Morocco) I don't have a more precise location. To the eye there seems to be some Antaeusuchus or Uruguaysuchidae teeth. The dimension is 10/15mm Could any expert help me please? While I was sorting through my collection of croc fossils, I came across these Elrhaz Formation teeth I bought 6 months ago and never did figure out what they were. I assume they are croc and not some kind of fish, though I could be wrong. I've never seen these apart from the one source I purchased them from. I've been told they were Sarcosuchus, then Kaprosuchus, then Suchomimus. Pretty sure it's not Sarcosuchus, and the images I can find of Kaprosuchus don't seem to match. Suchomimus, I don't know, but my gut feeling is, no, I've seen dozens of Suchomimus and fake-Sucho crocs, and never found a match. If anyone is familiar with this morphology, any input is appreciated. Locale: Gaoufaoua, Tenere Desert, Niger Last picture is a couple of other crocs from the same lot. One (the robust one on the right) is probably Sarcosuchus.

Greetings! I am glad to be here. I work with living crocodilians and have a growing interest in their ancestors, specifically the Crocodylomorphs (I often just call them "crocs" when in the Paleo context). I have a small, but growing collection of fossils. I'm interested in learning of others' "croc" fossil finds, knowledge and experience, and to share mine, as well. I have been since I was a child in awe of these remarkable Archosaur-line reptiles that survived the dinosaur extinction event and swim in my backyard today. I enjoyed browsing the photos and threads related to "crocs" and look forward to my experiences here. Many of us have seen Razananandrongobe material from Madagascar sold and described as possible dinosaurian with hopes that it will be described as one. This new paper looks at new material and believes its anatomy to be that of a giant crocodylomorph. Dal Sasso C, Pasini G, Fleury G, Maganuco S. (2017) Razanandrongobe sakalavae, a gigantic mesoeucrocodylian from the Middle Jurassic of Madagascar, is the oldest known notosuchian. PeerJ 5:e3481https://doi.org/10.7717/peerj.3481

I posted recently asking for opinions on a partial Moroccan Dyrosaurus skull and jaws that I've had for a while, waiting for me to do something with it. The feedback I had encouraged me to start work on it, so I'm going to document my progress here. I seem to have most of the skull and upper jaws, though it is in a very fragmentary state. The bone pieces are very delicate and most are still covered in matrix. I plan to clean and consolidate all of the bones, and then mount them in 3D. Whether I will do this in the traditional way, or with the help of my 3D printer, I am as yet undecided. This summarises my position as of now: I have lots of bones, and don't know what they are. I have no idea what I'm doing. I have never done anything like this before. I'm sure a lot of people would tell me to leave it alone and give it to a professional to do, but firstly I don't have that kind of money and secondly I am keen to learn. If anybody has any tips at any point, those would be greatly appreciated. If you'd rather tell me something in confidence, please send me a message and I will keep the information to myself. Anything I discover on my own I will post here for the benefit of anybody else stupid enough to attempt this. I have cleaned a few of the bones so far, and after some initial hiccups, it's now going well. My method is to dab water onto the matrix, which quickly soaks it up. I continue until the matrix is sodden, at which point is usually comes away fairly easily using a dental pick and a scalpel. As I go, I consolidate the outside of the bones using small quantities of superglue to prevent breaks, and help maintain the basic stability if anything does break. When I'm finished, I have the option of using solvents to remove a bit of the excess glue, but whilst I'm working on it I want to know it's not going to fall to bits. Once I have removed the bulk of the matrix, I use a damp brush to remove any residual bits, and then a dry brush to remove small particles. Then I repeat as necessary. Here's my progress so far - a handful of cleaned and partially cleaned bones. My aim isn't to get them all pristine and white, just to remove the matrix to a point where all of the shapes and details can be seen. I don't mind a little bit of Moroccan sand here and there. Anyway, that's how far I've gotten. I will post occasional progress updates as I progress! I will also post better images in future - I am a professional photographer, so posting poor quality smartphone shots is inexcusable! Feedback or advice is most welcome.
