This was found in a dried up creek bed in Arizona, near Tombstone, Arizona. At first I seen the crystals sparkling and thought, "cool an old 'Hag Stone'. ...in the desert???" On further inspection it kind of has a distinct shape. Also the hole look much like sinuses in a skull, possibly bird.

A friend of Tammy's has a chunk of amethyst crystals and was curious as to what the rusty orange highlights on the crystals might be caused by. I'm assuming it's some sort of iron oxide deposit leftover from when the amethyst crystals were created within the geode. I know that impurities of iron are responsible for turning the colorless quartz into a lovely purple amethyst. Has anybody else seen these rusty highlights in their amethyst specimens? Cheers. -Ken '

Found this while hiking in texas, unsure of what it is! It flakes relatively easily, shiny when light is shined on it, and it is a white color IMG_9663.mov

Hello ! I bought this at a Flea Market in California years ago for a dollar. It was in a box of rocks and Geodes. I recently got a rock ID App & this one keeps returning as Opal. It’s got a good weight to it so I figured it’s a Geode. But I once saw a fossilized egg that had the same odd Conical edge to it & now I’m wondering if it’s an egg of some sort. The exterior has an interesting texture to it. The inside of the exterior has golden bits that look like Amber almost. Is there such a thing as Fossilized Egg Whites? Thanks for any info . I have had this for years and honestly don't remember where it came from. It has crystals all through out it and has some weight to it. Any idea what it is?

Hello I am new to the is hobby and need some help identifying this natural Formation. After a thorough inspection I can't help but wondering if this is some kind of crystalized skull/Head. Looking at the nose area I can see were the small holes go into the sinus area. Note the back looks to be severed and you can see the brain area, not to mention the deep set eye sockets you can see on one side the ear formation. I know this sounds bizarre but seeing is believing can anyone see what I'm seeing and please help with any thoughts. Thank you.

I found this fossil a few years ago along the Orange County, CA coastline. It was already partially smooth when found but I polished it a bit. Looks to be some shell fragments, possibly clams or oysters, mixed with silica and other local material.The colors are beautiful. Any thoughts on what the fossils may be? measures 7” x 5” x 3” and weighs roughly 5lb. Thank you!

I'm going MAD trying to figure out what is covering this crystal rock! I have google lensed EVERY ANGLE of this rock & find absolutely nothing like it online! Matter fact google tries to tell me it's bread or cave entrances & dirt most of the time. It is SO STRANGE I have never seen anything like this, and I have a site that I dig crystals up endlessly at & that is where I pulled this one up at. It's from Hoschton ga. I have found obsidian several times, I find every different faced crystals (3, 5, 7 faces) & type (rock crystal, clear, milky, agate crystals) , tourmaline crystal, pineapple, candle, castle, dogtooth, calcite..... Something guite monumental had to have happened at my site a long time ago, for there to be such an endless supply of crystal. From my pinkie nail to size of my fist easy & just perfectly formed. I have found a thousand easy in the few yrs I have been digging there. Could coral have been crystalized by lava or from water put to a boil in a snap of a finger?

Going through a family member's old stuff and found this along with a few other dinosaur bones. They grew up in San Juan county Utah, so this was likely uncovered from that region, but I can't say with absolute certainty. I don't know if this is a fossil or just a geode. I myself have almost no experience in this area. Any help appreciated. Thank you!

I found this rock while fossil hunting in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. The surface rocks there are Conemaugh Group. I don't know much about rocks and have no idea what this is. Please help ID. Thanks.

Thought I would share a art project from woodbine crystal

I found this rock in the mountains of Taif in Saudi Arabia and it is plutonic origin and is pretty dense I would estimate 4-5g/cm3. The mineral is black and very shiny and under a modest microscope I can see interlocking columns of greenish black crystals. I used a strong neodymium magnet to see if it was magnetic and it was not magnetic which means it doesn’t contain the common metallic minerals. What could this mineral be?
