A new dinosaur book is now out online: https://www.amazon.com/Story-Dinosaurs-25-Discoveries-Amazing/dp/0231186029 https://cup.columbia.edu/book/the-story-of-the-dinosaurs-in-25-discoveries/9780231186025 This volume discusses in depth not just the first dinosaurs to be named, but also significant dinosaur discoveries that forever molded our knowledge of dinosaur diversity as we know it today, from Sinosauropteryx, the diplodocids, T. rex, Spinosaurus, Heterodontosaurus, Stegoceras, Triceratops, and Protoceratops. It also happens to include the recently described giant titanosaur Patagotitan, now seen as probably the biggest dinosaur that ever lived (after recognition that Maraapunisaurus is probably not as humongous as previously thought).
Why are so many teeth coming out of Morocco but skull material rare making identification of teeth nigh on impossible to species level? What holotypes exist? I can’t believe it’s just down to bone preservation as bone material is found, Olof’s album for example shows I get that many of the Moroccan diggers are trying to earn a wage and teeth are popular with little prep work needed so a good turnover but there are professional palaeontologists out there too. @Troodon @Tidgy's Dad @LordTrilobite
Hey everyone! I want to know your favorite extinct animal and why. Theropods, ornithischians, artiodactyls, cetaceans, carnivores, plesiosaurs, pterosaurs, gastropods!!! Megatherium, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Anzu Wyliei, Leedsichthys, Stegosaurus, Megalodon, Glyptodon, Moonshot, Woodstock, Watergate, Punk Rock! (just kidding) ANYWAYS, there are no limits here. Even if its coral. Get specific! Do you have a fossil from your favorite creature? If not, is it even possible to acquire one? Have any interesting discoveries been made about your creature as of late? Just looking to learn and start some interesting discussions. GO! ------ Cheers! Lauren
