I'm interested in adding a dinosaur Egg to my collection. I know these are commonly faked and would like some advise to spot a fake or a reputable dealer. Or possibly someone on here has one they are willing to let go of? Any info is much appreciated
Two questions here, what are general things to look for when deciding whether a fossil is fake or real? Guidance asked for especially when it comes to Moroccan imports, and mosasaur anything, crinoids, and trilobites, as well as pleistocene mammal fossils. The latter question, is there any massive list of information sort of like an identification guide for fossils? I saw this massive list fruitbat had and its very impressive and I shall put it to use, but i feel it's almost a little bit beyond me at certain times, is there any just general all encompassing guide to identification?
I need help trying to figure out if an egg i'm about to buy is a fraud or not, I noticed that this particular seller has actually already been mentioned on this forum for selling items on ebay out of Malaysia before under the post "Hadrosaur Egg Ebay Scam?". I'm not sure what it is about the eggs this person sells but i've never seen any like them. The entire top layer of "eggshell" just seems baron and lacking of any character compared to validated egg fossils; it also seems too uniform. All of this persons eggs look very similar and of about the same quality.... Here are four pictures of the same egg. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Here is also a cluster of three eggs sold recently, they look the same as the above egg but the setting and matrix don't look quite right to me.
