Hello my name is Trey and I’ve been a very casual collector in north Florida for most of my life from the Suwannee River and a nearby phosphate mine. I recently found what I think is a sizeable piece encased in limestone in the banks of the Suwannee River. I use it as a display in my house but I’m just curious as to what it may be how old it could be and what it might be worth. Any info anyone could provide would be very much appreciated. I can provide more pictures if needed.

Been finding a lot of these in the mahantango formation, but have been unsure of what they may be. Alongside these (what my untrained eye sees as) Spores, I have found many “V” shaped branches, with the little knowledge I have, my first thought is Cooksonia.. Hoping someone with more knowledge can provide a definitive answer! There are three examples within this one rock and I have many stems in other rock!

Took me a little while to post this trip report, I'm always a busy person. This trip is from October 3rd, 2020 in Ellsworth County, Kansas at a reservoir. The predominant formation at the site I visited is Kiowa formation; which is known for marsh and delta environments in the early Cretaceous (Albian). I found some interesting things and I'll show below. Possibly some carbonized wood materials. Lignite or coal? It was flaky and would crumble if touched. It left some black powders on my hands after handling it. I found several large pieces of them together and partly encased in concretions. Putting them together would make them about a meter and half long. Piece #1: Piece #2: Backside of #2. Notice the clutches of concretions. ...continued on the next post.
