I recently bought this piece of fossil bone at a bookstore in Tucson AZ. My guess is that someone had originally bought it at the Tucson gem and mineral show and then sold or traded it at the bookstore. I don't know anything about its original geographic origin. I had a friend test it with his Geiger counter and it gives off a fair amount of radiation compared to the background. I thought it maybe could be a plesiosaur fin bone because of the way it flairs out but I honestly have no idea. Any help identifying what species this fossil bone came from would be greatly appreciated.

I recently aquired a ichthyosaur jaw from lyme regis that was origionally purchaced around 1990. The piece has pyrite growth and lots of fractures. I’m guessing theres nothing i can do about the pyrite because it’s such an old piece and it’s already there. but how should i go about how fragile it is? Would a tiny bit of super glue help at all? Or should i just leave it because it’d do more harm than good.

several recent posts regarding artifacts & their identificaton prompted me to dig this specimen out of moth balls: it's both artifact & fossil; the tip section of a chipped stone spear or knifepoint, with a little surprise. The planispiral coiled gastropod preserved in the marine chert or flint probably contributed to it's fracture. It would have been a great artifact had it been complete;only now it's been relegated to "conversation piece". Hope you find it interesting.
