Good afternoon! Was fishing today on Canyon Lake, Texas and saw this fossil lying on the shore near the water. This was an exciting find. I know this is some type of snail or gastropod fossil but I do not know much about it. Can anyone shed some light on exactly what it is and also approx. age?

Hey there, I cannot find anything in my literature/ books on Burlington Formation straparolus gastropod IDs. I can confirm this is from encrinite Burlington Formation limestone, Henry County, one of my sweet spots. It is the first complete one to date I've found there, and I would like to have a more precise label for my first complete straparolus sp. fossil if possible. I can glue/ prep the specimen if needed for an ID, but I would need probably 2 weeks time for that. Thanks for any leads- Jackson G

Good morning Dear fossil hunters, Last summer I was in Ketvergiai quarry, Klaipeda district and crushed one dolomite boulder with hammer. there were many interesting brachiopods, some bivalves and also small gastropod inside. I think the boulder is Permian in age because I found Waagenoconcha like brachiopod shell imprint but the certain age diagnosis would be very helpful. The fossils are from 5 mm to 4 cm length. Some brachiopods are quite big but gastropod is the smallest fossil I found here. Any idea how old is this rock? Best Regards Domas

Hmm I don't think this one can really be identified! I'm not sure if it is the same fossil extending on both sides or if there's two separated gastropods on each side. I really like this piece I have!
