I found this a few years ago, 2021 or so. Anybody know if this is an brittle star or something else? The supposed brittle star is attached to a brachiopod. Location found is Suedberg, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Hamilton Group, probably Mahantango Formation. In this image you can see on the lower left side of the brachiopod a hole made by boring- may or may not be the work of the potential brittle star. In the above image as well you can make out where some of the arms are, though the image is bad quality. In the next image it is somewhat easier to see the individual arms- I had much better lighting. I can take more pictures if requested.

Hello everyone! I found this last year on one of my hunts in the Hamilton Group in Central PA. I identified it initially as potential fish (placoderm?) material, but I'm not completely sure. I just dug it out of my collecting boxes and decided to post about it. It shows some similarities to scales and bones from the Catskill Formation, but much blacker. I assume that it is a scale, if fish material, but correct me if I'm wrong. I can provide additional images if necessary.

From the album: Nautiloid’s phyllocarid collection
This specimen shows one complete valve, part of the telson, and part of the second valve. It was found by me on May 14, 2022 at an exposure of the Middle Devonian Hamilton Group in Central NY.© Owen Yonkin 2022

Spent a solid six hours in full sun and heat, with biting deer flies, moving rock at my secluded spot. Temps were about 30 C, but closer to 40 with humidity and heat off the rocks. Mostly splitting mid Devonian rock from the Widder Fm. Mostly looking for trilobites, which can be a game of inches... too far up or down in the strata, you get blanks or brachs. First up, a few brachs. These can cluster up in massive beds. The first one was fairly large but I left it there. I did keep the second one as the long tips are fragile and rarely come out whole.
