Found at a junk store in Graves County, Kentucky. Unfortunately the owner didn't remember what estate sale he found it at. I bought it as a simple geode but after cleaning it up I think it may be a geodized crinoid calyx. Its extremely heavy, sorry, no bananas for scale. Thoughts?

9cm long, heavy, possible bone -- found on a Melbourne beach in Australia
gneumatics posted a topic in Fossil ID
Hi to everyone... I was hoping someone may have a spare moment to ID? I happened to find this object on a beach in Melbourne, Australia. I thought it was a rusted piece of metal at first, especially considering the weight. I ran the pictures through gpt 4 and was informed that a fossil might be a possibility. What I know about it ... - Its heavy like metal - Its not magnetic - Its 9cm long - Theres an odd hole - One section kind of looks like it could be a broken bone or bones Thanks in advance for any help given! I have tried to research what this is and cannot come up with anything. There are shiney black lines throughout it which to me it looks like coal but I know nothing about it. Can someone please give me an opinion or at least lead me in the right direction of somehow identifying this?

Hey, would anyone know what this rock is? I have six pieces, this being the smallest at 5x8cm. Very heavy, bright red in places but interested in the age and identifying the type of rock/fossils contained. This was found in a mud conglomerate with pegmatite (see photos) found Front Range Wyoming. any assistance would be appreciated. Cheers, M.

Thought I had found some obsidian today until some basic research says it is not found in Spain. Images do not do justice to how smooth and shiny it is, and it is very heavy, almost half a kilo.

Ok, this big heavy thing looks like a dinosaur hip bone to me. I searched images on google and found some that looked similar. I'm no pro, so I'm more than likely wrong. Found it in our pasture, near Waco, TX

Another Southern New Hampshire Find. Pretty Sure it Granite
Golfer posted a topic in Rocks & Minerals
Found in the same area of my previous samples. Pretty sure it’s granite with shiny elements. Weighs 2 pounds 14.2 ounces. Very pretty specimen. I posted one of the piles of dirt dug from near bedrock that I search on my last topic. This area keeps me very active. Really hope I find some Native American or colonial artifacts too.- 5 replies

Could anybody help with identifying this fossil, please? It was found on the shores of the Solway firth in Cumbria, England. It is heavy in weight compared to other rocks of similar size. It fits comfortably into the palm of the hand. It is green and purple in colour and is smooth to touch with imprints and patterns that could be described as resembling sections of a scorpion tail, the head of wheat, scales or reptilian skin. There is detail all around the outside except on either of the ends. If anyone has any idea, I would be very grateful to know. Thanks in advance.

I found this in Queens, New York. I love to search regions for artifacts. When I picked this up it was too heavy to be a plain rock or piece of wood. It weighs 1 pound 1.2 ounces and is about 5 1/2 inches long. I took plenty of pictures which I will post. Any ideas about it I will be happy to read. Thank you for your time.

I located this piece of what I think might be petrified wood when I was landscaping in my yard. I am located in central Minnesota and the piece was above ground. Extremely heavy, 1ft tall or .305 meters. I appreciate any sight, as I am not super familiar in this topic. Thank you. images in order: front back left side right side top bottom

We found these near the edge of a dried up lake in France during vacations. Maybe they are just stones? But they have strange markings. Please see the pictures below. Could someone say something what we have come across?
